Hello,
Yes, I knew this one could be an hassle so let me explain:
The races will be organised in collaboration with the FFC (Federation
Francaise de Cyclisme). In order to benefit from their insurance
(compulsary in France and BTW VERY EXPENSIVE!) a medical certificate is
required for all participants. This should be something along the lines:
---------------------------------------------------------- --------
Doctor Garry Glitter
16, tailfairing street
Straton upon Bent
OX14 3EA
I the undersigned ,Garry Glitter,
Doctor in medicine, certifies that Mr. Rob Hague has no indication
against the practise of cycling in competition.
Straton upon Bent, June the 19th, 2006
Garry Glitter
---------------------------------------------------------- --------------------
I think we might create a printable form on our web site to make things easier. Stay tuned

Can under 16's race in this?
I only ask because:
(1) they are not allowed in French pedal car races due to (possibly) insurance reasons. It's the rules anyway
and
(2) if so, the above might be considered rather bad taste.

Racing is life...
Anything which happens before or afterwards is just standing around waiting to race....

Audax Club Parisien - the organisers of the Paris-Brest-Paris event. It'd make life a lot easier for idle BRITONS who find the idea of getting a note from the doctor in order to go for a bike ride rather odd...

unfortunately the ACP won't do
for competitions this certificate is compulsary because otherwise the
responsability of the organisers is engaged if for some medical reason
somebody dies (or has a severe health problem) during a race. With the
certificate, it is then the responsability of the doctor issuing the
certificate that might be engaged !
If you would sign a discharge stating that you personnaly take the
responsability for entering the competition that will loose it's value
as soon as you'd pass away, according to french law
I understand it can be a pain for you in the UK (in France some of us
don't hesitate to have our national health service pay for the
expense which I think is a bit questionable)
Hope you'll join us in August despite all this stuff that I hate as much as you do

See you there marc! BTW why no Championship points for the fully faired class from the Criterium? What sort of wussy faired riders do you have who won't ride a few hills! <grin>

since I'm there, I've created a medical certificate form, that will hopefully be online soon, assuming the FFC guys like it!

My medical certificate cost £11.50 from my GP. That pays for a fairly cursory examination but also the all-important piece of paper. He seemed mildly
surprised about what it was needed for, but apparently it's fairly
standard for glider pilots etc.
