A few important things to note about Round 1 of the 2025 BHPC Race Calendar at Hillingdon, which is rapidly approaching…
Firstly it’s on a Saturday not a Sunday!
Secondly we only have the track from 1pm until 6pm so please don’t turn up at 9am…
I guess there will be another event taking place in the morning - this means we will not have our usual level of control over parking. There will probably still be other vehicles there when we arrive.
The good news is that you get to have a nice lie in before racing. 🙂
The other good news is that as it happens to be Easter Saturday you will be able to fuel up on chocolate eggs. 😁
Entries will be available via the shop from two weeks before the event for BHPC Members as always.

Do we know if there's another event on afterwards - ie from 6pm onwards? I'm wondering about bringing 77 down for some start / stop practice on the back straight after the racing.
2 x 30mins as usual?

No idea to be honest but the limiting thing will be someone from the cycle club coming along to lock up.

The acknowledgement we've had from Hillngdon says the booking is 13:00-21:30. Unless it's a typo then Chris may have actually booked this time, in which case the limiting factor will be when we arrange for the lock-up person to arrive.

I don't think I'll bring seventyseven now thanks - it'll just be me in Woodstock. (Barney can't do Hillingdon, and I'd prefer to stick with Barney doing the launch practicing)

is anyone from down Southampton way likely going up?
I've been lurking for a while and kinda want to race my VelomobIle, or other recumbents, so would be looking to rent a van if someone else needed lift or had a van going up they wanted to share?

IMPORTANT NOTICE REGARDING HILLINGDON!!!
Hi All.
Please note that there is an event on the track at Hillingdon before us on Saturday. The “Hillingdon Slipstreamers” have the track with the handover being at 12:30pm.
WE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PARK AT THE TRACK BEFORE THAT.
As it looks like it will be wet the grass area behind the clubhouse will not be available, we are not allowed to park in the Goals Centre (you’ll get a ticket if you do) and there is a funfair on the car park next door!!
If you arrive early the circuit owners advise that you should park in Sainsburys and wait there or access through the kissing gates at the corner of the circuit.
I would strongly advise against parking on the road given the previous issues with thefts/vandalism.
Apologies for the inconvenience.

Hi All,

We have two wheelchair users registered to race on Saturday (Steve Marsh and Marina Logacheva).
I know parking is going to be a bit tricky but can I please ask everyone to try to leave a couple of spaces near to the clubhouse clear for them if possible.
Ta very much…

Also, half the Time Team has a blue badge (and the other half has to carry all the kit, which will greatly delay proceedings if it has to be lugged from the back of beyond)...

I've never parked on the road, but blimey, is it really that bad? [We're talking a 20yr old beaten up, paint riddled, Focus estate here!.....maybe that's more attractive though].
More importantly, is there an access to a kettle? [I seem to remember there was one in the kitchen] I can't survive more than an hour without tea!.

Parking on Springfield Road may be totally safe - we're just telling you about a couple of previous incidents where break-ins have been attempted during races. There will be a funfair at the end of the road this weekend which might attract more 'passing traffic' then usual.

We have full use of the clubhouse, including a kitchen with kettle. Please take any rubbish away with you at the end of the day.

The https://www.bhpc.org.uk/race-day/" rel="nofollow - Race Day page for Hillingdon is now online with details of the races, the facilities and live results:

Lovely day today at Hillingdon. Nice to see some old faces, together with plenty of new ones too. Goodness me, it's a been a while [2008 I think for me]. One could be forgiven when you're standing on the sidelines that it doesn't look that difficult, but I was gratefully reminded today just how deceptively taxing it can be when you're trying to put your foot down continually for any length of time. It's the kind of cycling that I'm just not used too.

Thanks to all who put the work in, both behind the scenes and on the day, to make it possible.

Sudden realisation that I must have met Garry without really noticing...

Anyway, after a very long day I'm spending tomorrow dead for tax reasons.  Results will get a spint & polish when I feel un-tired enough to stand a reasonable chance of not deleting something important by mistake.

Thanks to all who took part, helped, didn't get too upset at my rookie streamliner wobbling, picked me up after crashing, etc.

I found a pair of medium sized black running shorts in the male toilet. I will bring them to the next races.

And the https://www.bhpc.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/Events/2025/BHPC_2025.html" rel="nofollow - 2025 championship table now has some results in it.

Only issue is a suspicious long first lap for Dan Bergonzi in the second race.  I assume either a precisely timed stoppage, or a metronomically fast first lap with the cloaking device enabled...

Thanks for that.

I thought I had entered in the carfree category and managed to ride to/from the event (not happening again for most of the season, I expect).

Thank you for that.

Thanks also to Alan, Time Team and other volunteers for letting us ride round in dizzying circles.
