Can you give us some more information on the possible places please? Location/cost to hire etc would be very helpful. And let us know who you are if possible - are you a BHPC Member?

Hello. Well there is an aerodrome at perranporth. That might suit. Gets windy as it's out on the cliffs. They will certainly be approachable.

There's a campsite right opposite too.
No I'm not a member just a lone rider.....

Feel free to approach them and let us know if they would be interested and what the cost would be to hire the track for a day.

Looking at the website it's in use for cars 7 days a week with various activities. I just did a quick mileage calculation for me in the midlands: 640 mile round trip would mean £115 in fuel. That's a bit steep even for a weekend of racing which I doubt would be available.

Yep… probably very unlikely. 😞

They are pretty cool. They do all sorts of events and there are disused areas . I will pop in and see them some point this week and see if they are interested. The cars mostly just use the main drag strip. Don't know until you ask...

WOOHOO PERRANPORTH AREODROME ARE AVAILABLE
The event organiser says highly likely for a days racing. I asked for a campsite area and some tarmac so early November I can go and view the place. I asked for a tarmac loop possibly around the outside of the airfield and he seems ok with it. I'll post up news accordingly if the club wants me to investigate further..

We’d need to be sure the surface is suitable and the track is safe. We tend to only race on purpose built tracks rather than trying to make up tracks from perimeter roads etc. Access by the public or an adjacent event would be tricky insurance wise. Definitely worth investigating and getting prices though.

Yes I'll go and look when the organiser gets back from holidays. I'll get pics of track surfaces and then hand over to you as that will be my bit done....

Realistically we might need someone local who is prepared to help with organising. No idea if our usual organisers and timing system folks would make the journey down (it would need to be a 2 day event for me). What are you replacing the trike you’re selling with? Something faster??

I'd be happy to help organise.ill see how the track surface is first. There are others here that will no doubt be helpful. I'm selling the sprint because I'm going velomobile and need funds for that so not really asking much for it in reality.

Tracks that can be used safely in both directions or can be configured differently to give some variation are always good. Obviously we need toilet facilities etc and ideally power for the timing system.

Yes. There are toilet facilities there. Also possibility of a camping area I think however a campsite is right opposite the entrance It will basically be down to the track condition so I'm hopefully taking another person with me some can be objective. It's a private area with only permitted access for runway use. It does all add up however track will be the decision for me.. I'm there around 13.00 on Friday so will contact you later afternoon. Hopefully it will be ok..🫣🤔😁

Will you be able to run your trike round? Maybe get some video?🙂

Right.
Toilets Shower block Cafe breakfast and dinner etc.. Closed circuit Optional night racing Camping
There is a big enough closed area which after surveying could well be a decent track. Some new bits of tarmac on corners. Oldest surviving spitfire base with plenty of old stuff around like bunkers .
It's basically everything all in one place with the capacity to accommodate overnight each side of race day.
Yes we have been offered to go around with trikes and work out , measure etc a track . The other person I viewed with also agreed it's a possible site
So it's down to the BHPC now. Message me privately for email details for me to put you in contact with the areodrome and you can take it from there. Myself and the other person will happily run our trikes around and help with organising this end.
All good....😁👍

Got some pictures and a good idea for the space. It's a slight slope so some good hig speeds could well be achieved

We don’t race at night but we know people who do. 😃 I’ll pass this on to the pedal car folks.
Is there an actual track or would it be a case of marking one out with cones/barriers?? Do we have any idea of hire costs?

It's up to you now. If you want to link up with the aerodrome and continue with the questions then message me your email address and I'll set you up. Myself and another have been to the site and it is all there.we have both taken time out of full time work to do this too The track will need setting out. Tyre bales there for use etc and it's pretty good Like I said if you want to find out about it message me. I can email pics and link you to the aerodrome. That will be my part in the event done however I'm happy to help set up if you want to come to our beautiful Cornwall race.

If you email the pics to committee@bhpc.org.uk we can have a look and go from there. Obviously, track hire fees have to be covered by our members/racers and may well determine whether we can go any further with it. We’d need to know if there are additional charges for camping or if that’s included in site hire. Renting a large venue for a whole weekend can be expensive (the World Championships this year for example, but we had 120 entries to cover the cost. ) At a normal BHPC event we usually get 20-30 entries, each paying £9 (members) or £14 (nonmembers). So a couple of hundred pounds is what we usually pay to hire a track for a normal one day event.

Awesome
Committee emailed. I have copied in the aerodrome and the other person who was with me today. Some pictures attached. Also a list of what we established today which outline's the available facilities and closed race track confirmation of no public access to the area meeting your insurance requirements. It's all there and could well be a great event site. Both myself and the other person I viewed the site with are happy to help with any setting up or further visits.
Good luck committee and hopefully this can get organised. I'm in my busy season now for work but will keep up with the emails .
Thanks

Well it's unfortunate the costs can't be taken in by the club It's lovely here in Cornwall and the aerodrome could well be a good place. I guess without enough interest then it will be beyond reach. Anyway if enough people do get involved then prehaps a reassessment of funds could get it going.
