Unless there are any better ideas (from someone offering to organise…) the race format will be the same as Hillingdon as the track works well in both directions. 30 Minutes + 1 Lap Anti-clockwise, and then 30 Minutes + 1 Lap Clockwise. The field will be split into two groups as always, nominally “Slower” and “Faster”.
Less than 10 entries so far. Entries open to non members on Thursday.
Do we have any volunteers to help organise this one? (I don’t know if I’m going yet).

Hi all
Anyone planning on stopping the Saturday night before the race ? All the Youth Hostels seem to be full and camping could be bleak !

Closest YHA with available accom is Chedder. That's 50mins away from Bath. A good one, if full of mature adults!

Please note that at Bath we have the track booked from 11am to 4pm. We don’t expect to have access to the track before 11. I’d guess Race 1 will be at 12ish….

So we've had plenty of offers of extension leads this time. Who's going to volunteer to bring some decent weather?

Could someone bring a spare right leg?? My bloody calf that I popped while running last Saturday has gone again this morning!!! Hoping lots of deep heat and lazing around might fix it in time. 😞 l’ll be there anyway so can help with organising if it’s still not right

I have to admit I haven't seen much of the racing, but I've met some great people and seen some awesome recumbents this afternoon. 😎 I'll certainly try and and stop by again next time the circus is in town.

Thanks for getting the preliminary results up so quickly Kim.
A minor tweak needed as the computer gubbins thinks Judith beat me in both races. Correct for Race 2 but not for Race 1.

Excellent job on both the extension leads and the weather. Some room for improvement legs-wise, I feel.
Results up at: http://www.bhpc.org.uk/Data/Sites/1/media/events/events23/02/index.html" rel="nofollow - http://www.bhpc.org.uk/Data/Sites/1/media/events/events23/02/index.html
(Pre-merge results are still up on the live results page for the moment, in case anyone thinks something's gone wrong with the merge.)
Points table at http://www.bhpc.org.uk/Data/Sites/1/media/events/events23/02/bath.html" rel="nofollow - http://www.bhpc.org.uk/Data/Sites/1/media/events/events23/02/bath.html
The overall championship table can wait until tomorrow...
Times are mostly solid tag reads, with the exception of Russell 'Zaphod' Bridge, who brought two helmets and wore the wrong one in the first race.
I'm not sure what happened to Mark Allen in the first race. He's on camera getting the bell along with Ben Witney at 31:56. Then no sign of him until 38:13 when he can be seen leisurely rolling through the chequered flag in the style of someone who's already finished, which makes me think we have a missed read for his finish. The Trigger-O-Matic didn't pick him up, likely because the IR beam was too high for the lower handcycles, and I couldn't see him on anyone else's video.
Other than that, just a few edits for stoppages.

That sounds correct. One of the handcyclists jammed his gears on the last lap and he hand-paddled his way to the finish. I guess that is Mark.

Odd. The computer has a couple of spurious times for Judith, about 15 seconds early. I'm not sure why, as I wouldn't have thought the RFID system would pick her up *that* early (and it was anticlockwise, so couldn't have been from the far side of the track). Unless it was Natalya banging the bib number in manually, which she was doing for Russell, but I'm not sure how you typo 13 as 65. It definitely happened during the race, as CrossMgrVideo captured footage of her not being there. I'll have a look at the Impinj log tomorrow...
Hopefully now fixed.

Thanks for a great race yesterday.
I've posted this on Facebook but I'll duplicate it here: 2 x 5min test videos below from the first fast race at Bath yesterday using an Insta360 camera borrowed from GST.
1st vid - 360 video - you can click in the video and spin it round to look where you want. Quite a good novelty, but not the best viewing experience IMHO. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MLU8W_U-7-I&fbclid=IwAR25MFIB16BfhPkMTu2n9dNlCql_LeSTrOL0H2vIwGXKOYfJ7cxweNOSR78" rel="nofollow - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MLU8W_U-7-I
2nd Vid - 'flat' video created from the insta360 file using the app's picture-in-picture function. Whilst you can control 'direction lock' on the main image, there's no control at all over the inset video - it calls it 'selfie' mode so I suppose if it can't find a face it just goes on it's own little journey of exploring the scenery, rather than the rear view that I wanted. (This vid also has the Garmin data overlaid using the Virb Edit software) https://youtu.be/9CzPzgcWwbY?fbclid=IwAR3x7kIfUsV091N6__pwNTd_gPfmvBNLQabiFFk1PuqsAbFxlmyv7ALgPas" rel="nofollow - https://youtu.be/9CzPzgcWwbY
There's also issues with the Insta360 camera in that the app has far more features than the desktop version, meaning that you need to do all of the editing / compositing etc on your phone, which soon borks your phone 'cause 35mins of .insv files is 13Gb...
More videography experiments needed...

Mystery solved: CrossMgr allows you to manually enter lap times by mouseclicking on the rider's number/name in the 'Expected' list. Natalya was using that for Russell, and missed. (Which is why typing bib numbers on the numeric keypad is better: The keys don't rearrange themselves in response to RFID reads. Obviously if you're operating entirely manually it's less of a moving target.)

PS: who was the chap with the green 2CV van with a trike in the back? I saw it on the London Road around 4 yesterday; I gave the driver a smile, and when he passed my I turned around and to my surprise noticed the distinct shape of a transparent trike front fairing in the back! I also saw a blue 2CV about a minute later.

Apologies to James Coxon, who seems to have turned back into James Coxton at some point. I've hopefully fixed the results for Hillingdon and Bath, and will attempt to obliterate all traces of that years-old typo from the Spreadsheet-ov-Doom so it doesn't reappear...

The points on the Championship table are different than those for Bath race at least for Street class for myself and Dan Bergonzi. We finish on same number of points but in the Championship table is not the same.

Ah, good spot.
What's happened is that in feeding SeriesMgr's results back into itself to create the meta-series it's taken the ranking and allocated points as per the usual algorithm (1000, 900, 810, etc), rather than preserving the total (it thinks it's loading a list of race times, and knows nothing of the points). Since the tie-break rule has put Dan ahead of you in the table, that gives him an unfair advantage in the meta-series.
This is going to be a non-trivial thing to fix (I can think of two approaches, the merits of which require careful consideration: Giving it the ability to load a list of points would be simpler, but maybe the time would be better spent on proper support for 'events', as that could further streamline the workflow), so it's going to take some time to program and test. Bear with me...
I've put a placeholder page up for now.

Actually, the numbers should be correct if I just add all the rounds individually, so that'll do for the moment.
It's the best-n calculation that's the problem, so I've got until Darley Moor to teach SeriesMgr how to deal with Events properly.

I have never participated in a race organized by the British Human Power Club, and I have some questions, such as what the rules and requirements are for participants. I am also interested in learning more about the route of the race and what kind of experiences I can expect from the race itself .

Starter for 10:
http://www1.bhpc.org.uk/how-to-race-with-bhpc.aspx" rel="nofollow - http://www1.bhpc.org.uk/how-to-race-with-bhpc.aspx (Link is to the old website, as this page isn't on the new one yet)
Basically, something human powered (our electric-assist class is currently suspended due to insurance issues) that's safe to use on the track (ie. has a brake and no sharp bits). Magic hats are a requirement, gloves and elbow pads may be sensible.
No particular requirements for adult participants. Juniors need to be of an appropriate age and have parental permission. Importantly, there's no requirement that you be in any way athletic, or a member of British Cycling, or any of that rubbish.
Details of the tracks should be linked to from the events list, but they're usually closed circuits of good-quality tarmac somewhere around a mile in length, with mostly gentle gradients.
http://www.youtube.com/@LordHostis/videos" rel="nofollow - https://www.youtube.com/@LordHostis/videos Has some good-quality videos of many of our recent races, albeit from the perspective of a more athletic rider at the top of the Unfaired class.

Video from 360 camera on the fast hairpin at Odds Down - slow race. The 360 field of view unrolled into a flat 180 degree view. Took a while to sort this one out as video file was reading corrupt and I had to find a program to fix it. I then stitch the two 180 images together into the 360 view as the camera no longer recognised the file! Phew! Don't fancy doing that too often.

I have, I think, taught SeriesMgr how to deal with Events properly.
This isn't going to have any noticeable effect on the scores until after Darley Moor, as there won't be any races to ignore, but it does remove a step in the workflow to generate them.
Except for the Shiny! New! events total columns in the http://www1.bhpc.org.uk/Data/Sites/1/media/events/events23/BHPC_2023.html" rel="nofollow - championship table . These can be toggled on and off with the radiobutton at the top of the page, and sorted in the usual manner. Hopefully someone will find that useful and informative, or at lest that it makes the table more pretty and colourful.

Nigel yes you can have a look/borrow of the Qoocam. I have 2 of them!! They are the earlier version with the back to back lenses, not the one that does 3d though, (now they are smart-refocusing after you'd done the shooting). I'll charge them up for Stourport, may rig one up for the trike. Martin.
