Entries are now closed, and new riders (all two-and-a-half of them) should have an email from me letting them know their race number.

Two genuine new riders, and one who filled in the form as a new rider, but raced last season.

Good afternoon, I am wondering if anyone wants me to try and book a table at a pub for tomorrow evening (though maybe already too late to find one). If so please let me know if you are interested, thanks, Lee.

Hi what time is the track open, race starting tomorrow and Monday ? I can never find this information

Date Posted: 27 August 2022 at 11:03pm
The track opening time is in the usual place on the events page:  http://www.bhpc.org.uk/events.aspx" rel="nofollow - http://www.bhpc.org.uk/events.aspx

11:00 tomorrow, 10:00 on Monday.

Typically racing starts about an hour after that.  It's usually okay to use the track for warming up and testing HPVs while we get the tent and timing equipment set up.

Thanks to all the organisers and helpers.
We had great fun on the tandem and were amazed at how fast it was!!
I'll upload some video a bit later.
Race 2 was a bit of a struggle as Dave's hamstring was playing up and he couldn't stand up to stretch it. Apologies to Dave Minter for hjolding him up in the corners... We were being very a bit over-cautious.

A great days racing, thanks to all. I was overheating a lot in the second race and going backwards quickly, but David, Jochen and I had a cracker of a tactical race in the first 4-lap fast race. I'm looking forward to seeing David's video of that :)

Sorry I can't do tomorrow. Thanks to Kim and Natalia for manually timing me in the first fast race after I forgot that my helment and timing tags were in the crate which is now on it's way to San Francisco...

I left my tags in San Francisco... ♫

Today's results are up at  http://www.bhpc.org.uk/Data/Sites/1/media/events/events22/09darley_moor/index.html" rel="nofollow - http://www.bhpc.org.uk/Data/Sites/1/media/events/events22/09darley_moor/index.html

Many thanks to everyone for staying out of range before their go in the time trial, which made it run smoothly from a timing perspective, without a manual stopwatch in sight.  I reckon starting riders from that position with a good view of the straight is a safety win, too.

And three cheers for Natalya for glaring at the computer and diligently scribbling notes during the 2 hour race, which had a grand total of one missed tag read over the two hours (which we were able to fill in from the video).  We now reckon that "TT" is short for "Tag Test".

I've provisionally updated the championship table at  http://www.bhpc.org.uk/Data/Sites/1/media/events/events22/BHPC_2022.html" rel="nofollow - http://www.bhpc.org.uk/Data/Sites/1/media/events/events22/BHPC_2022.html

I'm now off to collapse in bed.  Thanks everyone for a great weekend of racing and loitering within tent.

Ah yes.  That got un-highlighted when I turned off auto-correction for the long lap where you had a puncture.  I've looked at the video, and Andrew S is doing an excellent job of occluding the aerial with his carbon fairing as you pass.

(Actually going to bed now, will upload again tomorrow.)

Thanks Kim, for doing all the good things and so quickly.

Alan, you weren’t particularly holding me up in the corners (I slowed others more). It was just noticeable that you could have had more fun in the corners with a little more trust that the greater weight and wheelbase of a tandem could let you bomb through safely.

Many thanks for the advice afterwards! More practice needed but tandems are great fun and I’d definitely recommend having a go to anyone that hasn’t tried one.

Right, I've fixed Lee's missed read, and done a bit of name aliasing.

For your viewing pleasure, I present Sunday's photo finishes:

First is Liam narrowly beating Lee in round 1...

Then in the second round, we have Judith about a chainset ahead of Mal...

And finally Dan and Aiden, which is so close we decided it was a tie...

Anyone who'd appreciate parallax-free photo finishes can vote for my proposal that the club purchase a dedicated weatherproof camera that can straddle the finish line at the AGM...

I fully support the purchase of a camera for photo finishes, along with a suitable tripod for it if we don't already have one.

Plus a rotary laser level to produce a vertical wall of green light aligned with the finish line.

A red/green rotary level could even be used as the start line as well. Maybe turn up the power a little to cut through the tyres of false-starters LOL.
