There is a new video for simple method of building a fairing without any specialist stuff. (except the materials of course)  http://www.easycomposites.co.uk/learning/mouldless-composites-laminating" rel="nofollow - http://www.easycomposites.co.uk/learning/mouldless-composites-laminating

Thats really interesting. Possibly useful for one-off fully faired machines, but note the comments on the weight of this part at 20:15, and note the wobblyness of the part at 19:20, even with three layers of 200g carbon.  Useful for an easy way to make a fairing over a framed bike like the Davis? streamliners, or you could possibly retrofit enough strengthening ribs internally to make a 'frame' to then hang components off...

The skill of the guy doing the work is amazing - Paul really knows what he's doing and it's easy to look at this and think that this is easy, but it's NOT!!! :) The skill in sanding the shape in the first place is unreal, and would be very very hard without the £900 6" orbital sander with extraction.

Yes, I would have trouble with using an orbital sander since my stroke and would have to do it by hand using a block very slowly. As to the weight, I guess that's why Daniel Fenn always makes a mould first, even though his sanding skill are out of this world.

Check out Paul's other videos, they are very interesting as well.

This video is another take on mouldless parts making.
A really good step by step guide for the homebuilder.

https://youtu.be/kjOt76LcKjU

It has  a lot of useful info on parts making and some basic aerodynamic information and considerations.
Their channel has videos on making moulds as well

Its life jim, but not as we know it.
