The timing system will be in operation at Preston so please don't forget your transponder tags. If this is your first time racing with BHPC and you don't yet have tags then please leave enough time for them to be written with your race number and mounted (usually on your helmet).

This season we are using new tags, more sensitive and faster than the originals issued last year. The existing tags still work perfectly OK but, as racing at Preston is starting later than usual, I may take the opportunity to offer free upgrades for existing tags. This is entirely dependent on the time available and tags for new riders who don't have any will take precedence over any upgrades.

Hi everyone, I'll be coming to this event to see what you guys get up to and hopefully pick up a few ideas for the bike bits fermenting in my garage. This will be the first time for me at any of your events since i rejoined last year and if i can help out with anything let me know.

Sorry for the poor user name, I'm new to this forum idea.

Something has gone astray in race 2.
My average was about 20MPH and I was ahead of Geoff and Jeffrey. I think it was Geoff's dodgy front wheel that was probably the cause. :D

Hi everyone,

Thanks very much for your hospitality today. I thoroughly enjoyed meeting you, watching the racing and riding recumbent for the first (and definitely not the last) time. Hope you have another good day tomorrow and hope to see you again in July.

I stopped to investigate a wobble in race 1, so that result is about right. In race two I didn't stop and finished just behind Alan but well ahead of Jeff, so I should have 18 laps in race 2.

Both Alan and Geoff are missing several (7-8ish) laps from race 2 due to an extended gap in their tag reads. Geoff's figure of 18 laps looks about right and I'm guessing Alan finished on the same lap, a few seconds ahead? We have full video of the race but if someone can confirm this it will save someone having to watch through the rivetting footage.

Correct - I was on the same lap as Geoff and sneaked past at the end with a tow from the group led by Jes in the pedal car...

Out tactic-ed fair and square...

By the way, is anyone writing a race report of this and Nelson? The next mag is looking more like a pamphlet at the moment!

The e-timing results from Preston, including corrections for Geoff and Alan in Race 2, are now available on the website here:

To see the number of laps for each rider choose 'Show Every Lap' under the animation of the race.

Results in the more conventional format will appear here sometime tomorrow.

Many thanks to Andrew for the results. How have you gone from a 'velodrome display' to a realistic one, with corners in the right places?

The timing software has a facility to import circuit maps in GPX format. Barney has provided these for most of the tracks we use using some high-resolution maps he has access to. However a few tracks, including Nelson, are too new to appear on any maps so it falls back to the standard oval.

One for observation; Jochen Farwer bike is not correct and he should be counted only for O/P/U classes and should be removed from St/Sp classes.
Thank you to the organizers for putting another shift to make the race happen.
