Absolutely delighted to see that I finished ahead of Dave in our second race...

I don't know who that git was who looked exactly like him and kept lapping me....

There were also people posing as Andy Sidwell, Rob Gillions and Howard "is that trike really going to stick to the banking or drop on top of me" Yeomans who came by me several times....

I would like to propose that the current method of scoring is maintained throughout the season...

In the case of Newport ALL results were published on the partition there for comment.  All comments objections were handled and resolved when raised.

If you came out at an advantage then good for you, and more fool on the others for not objecting at the time.  Lesson for some there!

Kevin / All.

I notice that my posted average speeds are higher than expected. I thought I was more like 23mph. Now, obviously I'm flattered and just want you to confirm that my computer calibrated wrongly. Has anyone else noticed the same?

Sensor is on the right wheel, in case anyone was wondering..

I reckon my average speed for the first race was about right (21.9MPH)

My speed in the second race (26.8MPH) was obviously due to the large quantity of drugs consumed in between...

Howard

The calculation for your time in the first round was based on 59 laps in 21:47.82.  It is a 250M track therefore that is 14.75km in 21*60+47.82 seconds.  ==> 14.75km in 1307.82 seconds ==> 14.75 * 3600/1307.82 km/h = 40.6km/h or 25.4 (if we are being piccy it would be 25.22, used an approximation I had at the time (km = 5/8ths of a mile, but that is < 1% error so didn't worry) mph.  The 250 metre track is official, so I can't really see how that would vary.  The lap count and time I had off Paula.  I think the maths is correct.

Cheers for that Kevin, I will have to revise my computer settings. Both races to me looked slower, but I didn't write down the compouter's average I wsaw on the day. That rules out lap timer error though. I'll re-measure the wheel and go from there. Its the first time I've broken 25mph.

BTW, the noise from my Trice people were hearing at Newport was chain rubbing on chainstay, not the Brompton tires. Fortunately I had taken the precaution of bandaging up the chainstay so no damage done. I removed the rear pulley wheel to reduce friction, but perhaps would have been better off without. I didn't check clearances with the different cassette, dim

You were running the tail box so that might explain slightly faster.  I can't see that the timing was out, since it is more likely that a lap was missed than one added.  The training is obviously paying off!

Didn't even hear the noise - To be hosest didn't really see anything on the Sunday - too much going on.  Ill try to do better at Castle Combe!

Hi Everyone,

Bear in mind that 250m is the lap distance on the black line at the base of the track. The majority of riders will have travelled somewhat further than 250m for most laps so computer speeds should be a bit faster than the calculated speed shown on the results.

I'm their leader.
Which way did they go?

Jim,

It was actually Beechams Flu Plus... I was a bit croaky that weekend...

I might try a Night Nurse before Castle Coombe.

Unless her indoors catches me...
