Its a great video - here's a link to the results for that race:  https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/10NPSeF8SMuZQSNEckCmQeaaxcqx2yEmBqCrn9ajCSpw/pubhtml#" rel="nofollow - https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/10NPSeF8SMuZQSNEckCmQeaaxcqx2yEmBqCrn9ajCSpw/pubhtml#
(there's few tabs on those results)
The winner was Sean Costin at 35.6mph for 40mins. I wonder how Slash in Beano would fair in that race? Would the results from Scunthorpe velodrome last year be comparable?

Yes, don't see why you shouldn't compare them Russell - similar tracks. The Beano is this: Fast.

Having looked at the results for Scunthorpe 2013 I'll concur with that! Beano is very fast...
20min race: 38.3mph
30min race 38.2mph
Interesting that the American streamliners are all taking a similar form quite different from Beano. I wonder if this comes from a distinct train of thought, or just expediency in the re-use of molds? (Wisil is WISconsin ILlinois ie all local-ish!)

The secret of the Beano is very careful packaging. After decades of development, Miles has got the tightest possible envelope around the rider, and used a very narrow bottom bracket (Q-Factor) to get the pedals as far forward in the nose as he can. This gives the fairing very low surface area, and, if the fairing is properly streamlined (no turbulence), which it is, then there is no 'form drag', just surface friction (viscous drag) and this is roughly proportional to surface area.

Why do most Americans not do this? Dunno. I guess they're usually bigger than Slash and they maybe put too much emphasis on frontal area rather than surface area? The amazing thing about Beano is that it's a very practical circuit racer too!

I'd love to see how it would go out here...

You'd need to tape up the (relatively) large gap between the two halves, wear ear plugs ....oh, and dislocate your shoulders. :D

Just use the factory fitted engine in it (Steve).... biologically perfect for the beano,
Get some beetroot in him that seems to be all the rage at the moment, if nothing else the panic for the bog three mid down the road will make it quicker.
