There is a possibility of camping at Fowlmead on the Friday night before the event. I don't yet know how much this would cost but it's unlikely to be free. If you may be interested in camping at the Country Park then please let me know, either by posting here or PM, so I can assess the level of interest.

Unfortunately camping on the Saturday night doesn't look as if will be possible.

Ah... Was hoping to camp Friday and Saturday nights as for the last couple of years... Wonder if there is any chance of camping at Gravesend?? I think they were going to offer that to us last year? If not the fishing lakes next door to Fowlmead (Cottington Lakes) offer camping but places and facilities are limited...

Camping on both Friday and Saturday will be possible but it will cost us £60 per night (to book, not each!) so I need to have some idea of numbers before I book anything.

Andrew,
I might be asking a daft question but is the £60booking irrespective of the number of people?
How much would it cost to camp or do you divide up the booking fee between the campers?

Andrew is away at Cyclevision until Monday but I think from his post that we pay £60 and if 6 of you camp it is £10 each. He can confirm next week

Camping at Cottington Lakes is £14 per night for a pitch including two people... Extra people on the same pitch are charged at £2 per night.

Space will be limited though... toilets/showers are very limited.
There is a nice little café on site that will do breakfast though...

Might actually get to a race this year....this one is looking promising. assuming I can convince my cargo bike that it wants to play at faired racing! So far it has half a waterbut for a nose and 2 sheets of plywood bolted together to make the sides....NO LAUGHING AT THE BACK!Ouch

Camping will be available at Fowlmead on both Friday and Saturday nights
Cost: £5 per tent per night

This should help both with people getting to Fowlmead in time for the racing on Saturday and with people staying over for Gravesend on the Sunday.

If you think you may be camping at Fowlmead then please let me know (either here or by PM). The cafe may be open for cooked breakfasts if there is enough demand.

There has been a fair amount of press interest in the Fowlmead/Gravesend weekend. As I can't attend (I'll be 'between cars'), I would be grateful if members can keep an eye open for Press presence and let me have feedback post event. Ta.

As agreed with the Competition Secretary on Sunday, Fiona and I will be organising this event. Details to follow shortly but, in line with the Comp Sec's wishes/suggestion, expect a loooong race.

Maybe whoever is organising Gravesend the next day (not us!) could contrast the long race at Fowlmead with various shorter races, as this would make full use of the versatility of the circuit and make for a varied weekend?

The Schedule for racing at http://www.fowlmead.co.uk/" rel="nofollow -
10:00 am - Approximate Commencement of Signing On
10:45 am - Signing On Closes - Please ensure you are signed on by then
11:15 am - Slow Race - 90 minutes + 1 Lap Clockwise
01:30 pm - Fast Race -  90 minutes + 1 Lap Clockwise

Please ensure you are on the start line in good time and ready to race and that you have somebody to time you. We've got a lot to fit in so your co-operation is appreciated.

(We are running a fast & slow race because Fiona and I would both like to race as well.)

As an experiment, can anyone planning on racing at Fowlmead please post here or PM me with your Name, Race Number and Bike Description, so that I can enter you into the race software before the event, to save time on the day, and also to have an idea of attendance.

And don't forget, Camping will be available at Fowlmead on both Friday and Saturday nights. Cost: £5 per tent per night

Any questions/objections?

BUMP!

Anybody else camping Friday/Saturday?

Andrew, who do I approach to pay for camping, where will camping be and will parking have to be paid on top?

I know of about six people who are planning to camp, so I'd guess at around 10 altogether.

The site is going to be where it was last year, on that patch of grass north of the track.

Pay for the camping at race sign-on on Saurday morning (£5 per pitch per night). I don't know about parking, although I'd assume that if you park with your tent there will be no charge.

Cheers

I didn't go last year so I'm not knowledge about location of said patch of grass although I'm sure I will be relocated if I get it wrong.

Please can I book a pitch for two tents.... (Kids are coming)
Friday and Saturday

Might be a daft question, are there any toilet or shower facilities?

Regards
Karl

Toilets and showers are in the Visitor Centre, and they leave it open all night when people are camping there... It is a little walk from the camping area though.

I'm afraid I'm going to be the only Belgian (that I know of) this weekend. No camping for us, staying in a hotel with the wife and kids.

See you all soon,

You're quite right, John. That really is spooky - your result changed in the spreadsheet since I saved it yesterday, yet the only change I made (or thought I made) was to Andy Forey's bike. I shall double-check nothing else has changed then fix the final tables.
