Claire and I will be organisating this event.  We're both racing though and will both be in the fast race, so the planned races below are dependent on drumming up a few assistants.  Feel free to post your offers here:

Starter (20% of points): Three-lap time-trial
Main course (80%): 50 minutes + 1 laps.  Two heats

Please be signed-on and ready to race for 11.00.

Also, if you're a qualified first-aider and will be present, would you let me know, please?  Thanks

I'll help out Adrian. Based on previous experience of a 3-lap TT, it is even more important than normal that you have a CLEARLY legible front number. Please ensure that you do, to make the organisers job easier. Thanks.

Due to serious data problems (download problems from a couple of tags) and being late back from work the Preston results will take a little longer...

Thanks again gNick. Joseph Parker was riding my HPV Heaven T-7 (O/St) in the TT and race at Preston BTW. And Fiona was riding the T-8 (minor point).

Note that I beat Joe in the TT by 3.2 seconds, despite being twice his age Big smile. Don't think I was so lucky in the main feature though Unhappy

Excellent work so far on the results gNick but a very minor point on classes, Paul Goodwin's Rapto shouldn't be Street or Sports unless he's managed to raise it quite a lot higher than mine, George should be S/St its just I didn't put them on his sign on and should Sarah really be St isn't just O/L/J (I think she's been racing fully faired all season but collecting points for Street - its bad enough that she beats us all without gaining points in Geoff's favourite class).

I always thought that street / sport classes were mainly dictated by whether the machine was suitable for use on the open road. Surely if I use the Rapto as my only form of transportation, even for doing the weekly shop then it's suitable for the open road and therefore street / sport?

Looking here http://www.bhpc.org.uk/rules-and-classes.aspx - http://www.bhpc.org.uk/rules-and-classes.aspx , there is now no stipulation of minimum seat height (used to be 350mm for Sports/Street), so probably worth talking to Adrian about it Paul.

Paul,
Denise Wilson uses her RatRacer to comute on in central London but no one would say that a Ratty is a Street class bike. Likewise Dave Tigwell rides everywhere on his Raaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa....... (or do I have too many a's?). I've even done the odd road mile on the NoCom.

Anyway, clearly different people consider different things suitable for road use. I must admit that I haven't been involved in sports class for quite a while but I seem to remember that it was up to the riders in the class to agree what was in/out. Maybe the Comp Sec can clarify?

Paul

I've also used my Rapto for commuting around York, and between sites, when I worked there but it was on the basis of the seat height rule that I've not been claiming it to be S/St.

Personally I think its not only brave but admirable to use it as your only form of transport!

I think it's the lack of a seat height rule in the S/St classes this year that needs to be clarified. I can't remember there being such a rule last season either, indeed that was the reason I entered the Rapto for those classes.

Perhaps as a compromise the seat height rule could be reintroduced next season, I would have no problem with that but it would be a shame to change the eligability mid-season.

As for the single mode of transport Barney it's partly motivated by a desire to keep as much money in my pocket for an eventual mortgage of doom, trust me I miss an engine everytime I have to lug a weeks worth of shopping up a steep dual carrigeway and somehow get into the right lane without being mashed!

There has been a lot of discussion of Sports Class Rules in the past, and they usually end up adding confusion rather than reducing it!

I thought we had  decided that it was for those in the Sports class to decide?

Regarding classes and bikes last weekend, I will get the results complete first and then edit the machines and classes.
On that front things are looking clearer but not much...Cry

Nick,
from my perspective for Round 2 Race 1:
Places 6-10 appear sensible (my results are spot on with my cycle computer)
I guess 1-5 are sound too.

No comments on classes though ;-)

Classes and bikes are as people signed in, as long as the results are OK then I'll update the rank and file.
