To date, nobody has stepped forward to organisate our next event.

In the interests of getting in another enjoyable day's racing, please can we have one or more  volunteers to lead or assist with the organisating?  If you haven't done it before and aren't sure what it involves, please let me know: I can send you a short guide.

Also, this may be a circuit where there are not on-site first-aiders.  Is anyone planning on going a qualified first aider?

Do we still not have an organisator for this one??

Any takers??

And any thoughts on race format and times??...
I have to be in Portsmouth for Casey's School's Rock Challenge final thingy later that day and I'm currently in negotiations with the higher authority to see if I can get to Stourport first...

There's still a vacancy on the organisatorial front.  Roll up! Roll up!

The track's web site suggests it can be used safely in either direction*, so the popular "two 30-min races in opposite directions" format, as Alan organised at Hillingdon, should be a possibility.

*We'd need to confirm on the day that this is the case at our superhuman speeds...

Anybody know what time the gates will be open (I've just had an email asking...)?

Who has the flags/bell/clock etc and are they going to be there?

And can we please have a volunteer to organise ASAP??

what time do you want this one to start ? sign on at 10am, race at 11 ?

I doubt I can get there much earlier than that as its 2 hours ride (I think) from mine, so if someone else can open up, get the intravenous caffeine going etc, it would be appreciated.

Two races 30mins each in opposite directions, points split 50:50 sounds sensible, with 5mins gap in between said races to get people warmed up and ready? slow -quick, slow -quick.

On the day if the track isn't great in one direction, then we'll do a TT  in a nice figure of 8 *** or something and a 45+1  ;)
alan in the slow race so he can go early?

I'll also bring my first-aid kit along.. I did say ages ago I'd cover this and DM (/me not looking at Adrain again..)  the more the merrier.

Have fun everyone.

I guess the silence from competitors shows just how well the timing system is working! Thumbs Up Amazing achievement by all involved in developing this system! Thanks to this and Kevin's sign-on software, running a race event seems to have become a painless routine.

Thanks to everyone who made yesterday possible and to gNick for sorting out the results. Nice track in a good location and all-day-breakfasts AND BEER available in the canteen!

Though Slash probably registered as riding the Beano, he actually raced his bagged Kingcycle - same class, though.

Also, whilst it doesn't mean it didn't actually happen, I don't remember him lapping me in the second race.  Has he got a lap too many?  As the results stand, he's the only person to have gone significantly faster in the second race than the first.

I think he may have: Slash did lap me towards the end of the second race but was still within sight at the end, when he was still behind you. This accounts for Slash's finishing time being about 20secs ahead of me and also for the extra lap that you did.

I hope there is a simple explanation from the Timing Lord as I was very impressed with the performance of the timing system.

I'm new to the forum here,. I own a bike shop in Kidderminster a couple of miles from the Stourport track. I'm the local dealer for ICE
Got a phone call from Mervin an older gent comes in the shop to tell me you were racing.
Hoped on my bike and popped down for an hour. I liked what I saw but wish I had known earlier, I could have put a poster or such in the shop window.
It would have been interesting to take a lap or two to see how far ahead of me the regulars are, I've only been riding recumbents for a year so far. Over the winter I fitted a cheat kit to the trike, (electric assist), I claim I use it as a demonstrator but the wife knows better.
Looking at the race times I had better get some training in.
If your back racing in these parts let me know and I'll see if I cann't do a little promotion.

The next nearest race to you this season isn't particularly local: it's is at Shrewsbury, on 11th September.

A return visit next season is quite possible - it'll depend on feedback I get about the venue following this visit, which was our first.  Some people like bends; others (and their machines) don't, so I generally think it's OK to  have one circuit per season that not everybody can get around, but no more than that if I can help it.

What did people think of it?  I found the circuit challenging, and I was glad I didn't bring the VLR, but the off-circuit facilities are probably the best I've come across.

I liked what I saw but had to run back to my shop, It was a Satuarday.
It did seem more like a friends and family get together, which is good.
As I say I wouldn't mind getting involved with something similar, I'd have to ditch the motor first though. I use my Sprint as a replacement for my car for most work days.
So far I've built up about 2000 miles on it in 11 months, trouble is I only live 3 miles from my shop and if it's wet or cold I just get here as fast as possible. I'm going the long way home tonight, god am I suggesting training I must be ill, better go for a rest.

This was my 5th BHPC race so far. I've previously raced at Hog Hill, Hillingdon and Darley moor. I thought that the facilities were excellent. I found the first race clockwise very tricky. Anti clockwise, even in the wet, was far more pleasant. I wonder if this is anything to do with the track or the fact that my brain seems to cope much better with left handers. Any thoughts? I also like the 30/30 format and would welcome racing at Stourport again next year.

Thanks to gNick, Ian, Fiona and Barney for the organisating.

As press bod, I'll check the recumbent dealer lists in future and send flyers as part of our pre-event publicity. It was pleasing to note that a number of local people turned up, having  read the article / pics in the local papers two weeks beforehand....

I thoroughly enjoyed the racing, I was quite surprised to not come across one of Barney's lungs at the side of the track though!

Oddly enough, I found the racing in the clockwise direction much better, the banked hairpin seemed much easier to drop the bike into whereas the other way it wouldn't settle. Explains why I couldn't catch Gus in the second race!

All in all, a great day of racing. I'll echo the praise for the facilities as well, I'd be more than happy to race there again. That might also be due to the fact I love tracks with hairpins but it seemed well received by everyone.

I'm definitely in favour of a retun next year and I think we should let people know that it was a great circuit, that despite fears of hairpins and hills it provided some great racing.

As for the hairpin we did prove it can be run 3 abreast so there must be a brave (or foolish) streamliner pilot out there who could give it a good go.

And as for the off track facilities, beyond anything else we've ever seen.

Slash did take the Beano round.  I suspect he would have raced it but didn't want to risk damaging it, what with departure for Monza being only days away, and victory being pretty much assured for him even on the KC.
