Well the title says it all, I managed a few laps of the new track at Stourport yesterday and it was excellent.

This track is brand new and apparently laid by a civil engineering firm led by a racing cyclist and is adjacent a wonderful little club house, also brand new with all mod cons of changing rooms, showers, bar, food, electricity and space for sign on procedures whilst hooked up to mains power.  Plenty of car parking.

Track is top quality asphalt, approx 1.4 km long and very brief description is:-
Start finish line - gentle descent to 90 deg left hand with camber - almost flat to banked 180 deg left hander - slight climb to 90 deg right hander (you are now running parallel with start finish straight) - climb to crest (alternate position of start finish line on crest) - descend to heavily banked tight left hairpin - climb to start finish line.

The gradients are no where near Hog Hill, a little bit steeper than Hillingdon, and will require gear changes, the hairpin is only 180 degrees, similar radius to Shrewsbury / Curborough and very heavily banked so may be some good fast lines high on the banking.

Convention is to ride the track anti-clock but it can be ridden clockwise - approach to hairpin would then be even more down hill so even faster opportunity to call for a first aid kit.

It does include a couple of cut throughs to shorten the track but I don't think these are practical or desirable for us to use, probably one of them may be OK for pedal cars.

Track time is available on Sunday afternoons (possibly also mornings although they have public sessions then) for exclusive use at a rate of £20.00 per hour including use of showers etc.

I will PM booking details to Adrian (and Alan on behalf of pedal cars).

PLEASE SIR CAN WE HAVE A RACE THERE!

Its also completely ignoring ironbridge btw.. as the prospect of climbing out of the gorge would scare some people
