While some of you think that motor racing is the most evil form of
sport, there are some benefits of having motor racing tracks around the
country with some of them being open to cycle racing and training.
Three that I am aware of are Castle Combe, Mallory Park, and Curborough
Sprint Course.
North Wiltshire County Council have currently
slapped a noise abatement order on Castle Combe circuit that could
potentially lead to the circuit being closed, thus depriving Wiltshire
Cyclists of an excellent training and racing resource (Tuesdays
training, Thursdays racing).
While I am not intending to ignite
an argument about the merits or otherwise of motor racing, I would hate
to lose this facility for cycle training and racing, and so if there
are any others who feel the same, can they please write to the North
Wiltshire councillors to express their concerns. I've appended a list
of their names. It's a pre-election list, so some may have changed.
