Just thought I'd post about this track which may be available for bike racing in 2006.  From an article in a magazine on the subject.  Lotus are considering allowing people to use their test track for bike racing.  The track is well surfaced and can either be used as a single track of 2.25 miles or two smaller tracks.  The track is in Norfolk, near the A11 to the west of Norwich.

There is a meeting scheduled at the lotus factory on Sat 11th Feb 2pm for all people who are interested in riding, organising or officiating any events.  Numbers will be limited so anyone considering going to the meet should contact Jolliffe on 01953 608948 (evenings) or e-mail jolliffe(at)jolliffe2004(dot)wanadoo(dot)co(dot)uk

From the picture, it looks a really good high-speed track.

It appears to be away from any urban areas so should have no probs with chavs putting bricks on the track.  There are toilets although no changing rooms.

You also would have to pre-register (no turn up on the day) and whether they would allow use at the weekend is open to question.
These are car test tracks and security is naturally an issue.
From our experience at Bruntingthorpe a few years ago they are likely to be expensive as well....

...but 2 smaller tracks has possibilities if we want joint events.

Although that scuppers people who want to race in both pedal cars and HPV's to a certain extent.

Racing is life...
Anything which happens before or afterwards is just standing around waiting to race....

Ford Dunton (Essex) are about to make the track available for a summer evening race season. It a banked loop circuit - and if i had a clue how to I would post the link I would, best i have to offer is the post code  SS15 6EE the track stands out. This has been used for a few charity events and is sufficiently away from the main building not to raise many security issues. I have driven around it - some years ago in a MKII Lotus Cortina (it was new and so was I!).

I will see how the summer stick races go - maybe take a few snaps if Ford allow this.  Could be useful and may be free.

I did have some photos of this track which were left behind by someone after the AGM a few years ago.  A plea in the Newsletter for the owner to come forward elicited zero response.  The weekend before last I threw them away.

Soz.

Our man in East Anglia, Mr Mike Burrows has been involved and it is not much use to us since they are looking at weekday evenings only.
