Now then now then now then Guys and Gals (gNick realising what he has just typed dies of embarassment)
For those who are planning to be camping at Lancaster there has been a slight change of camping venue. The place we have camped ever since the inception of Cyclefest is no longer available for camping, the field is now home to static caravans (well if you must have a caravan, static is definitely preferable!).
Following a bit of field research by Pedaldog, a suitable campsite would appear to be at Red Bank Farm, Bolton-Le-Sands, Carnforth, Lanc's, LA5 8JR. Cost is £3-00 per person (Under 15's 1-50) per night inc showers and toilets. Campsite is just off the beach and 15 minutes walk from 1 pub and four in less than 20 minutes walk (you might not care but I do!). I will attempt to get a map or two up to show where it is but I'm not sure about that, help might be required...

There will be a barbecue on the Saturday night which will be organised by the Lowings so contact them if you wish to help, have food requests, wish to be cooked etc..
Pedaldog is also looking to sort out some rides round the area for those who would rather ride than race - see his posting in the Social section.

For the barbeque It would be helpful to have a rough idea of numbers, food preferences etc.
It is intended to make a small cover charge - Any profits going towards the 2008 European Championships fund.

To avoid having to get up at an uncivilised time on Saturday, I am planning to be at the campsite on Friday night.
Anyone else going to be there then or will I be sad and lonely in the pub?

On behalf of the Lancaster-Preston organisating team (Jon and Anne Coulson, Claire King, me), below are the race formats for the forthcoming weekend. We decided not to publish a timed schedule as the numbers turning up will determine the number of races we'll need to run.
However, note that racing on both days will start at 11.00 (or very soon after), so all racers should ensure that they are signed-on by 10.45. If you are planning to compete at Preston as well as Lancaster, we'll be encouraging you to by sign-on for both days' racing at the same time - save yourself a little hassle, and make our lives easier, too.
Lancaster
Championship races: 40 mins plus 2 laps Fun race: The ever-popular Lancaster Devil
Preston
Championship races: 40 mins plus 1 lap Fun race: One-lap time-trial (slowest riders first, starting at 1min. intervals)

Challenge Hurricane - MicWic Delta (Front half) - Burrows Ratracer

Regarding camping, how many are we likely to be and which nights? The campsite aren't worried about pre-booking but it would make things more sociable if we are all in the same area, particularly for the barbecue. So if numbers are known an area can be cordoned off.
I (as mentioned above) will be there on Friday night so I will see if I can find one of the BHPC signs to warn people of nervous disposition to stay clear.

I also shall be camping, however not with you lot. No, my wife has other ideas ....
We (and that includes my two kids, my wife, three of her friends and their husbands, and all their bl**dy kids) are camping in Croston 'beacuse we can' and it will be 'fun' (her words).
On the two races that are closest to me and not involving getting up at stupid o'clock, I have to go an hour's bike ride up the road to put up a tent, then drive from said campsite to each event (maybe another half an hour). No time for Friday night drinkies, and I have been told to be back for Sat dinner at the campsite. I can feel one of my turns coming on ...
If I appear not to want to go home after the race on Sat, now you know why ...

You haven't met my missus, yet, have you ? You're very brave to offer, gNick
However, due to the wish to maintain family harmony, I think that I shall do as I am told (as usual). I also might be needing to steal her (our) chequebook for carbon supplies, since there are some ominous cracks appearing in Electric Blue - more strength needed in the headtube area for the shi**y roads of Merseyside, methinks ...
See y'all Saturday.
