Are there any commercially available hubs for cantilever suspension? There isn't anything obviously coming up on a web search. I am optimistically thinking of making up some new wheels for a Ratcatcher.

Front hub wise Sturmey Archer make the X-SD hub which comes with the bonus of a hub brake. Might be a bit heavy though.

John, I can get Sturmey Archer hubs that have been machined to take some of the excess weight off.

PM me

That's interesting, but are front hubs a big issue as I thought one could substitute a bolt for a threaded stud & that would be OK? Gross simplification I know. But Karl & other trike makers have good front wheels - it's the rear that's a problem. I spoke to Mike B who was marvellous, but has no suggestions for alternative rear hubs [apart from offering someone skilled a lot of money].

What exactly are you trying to do??

Further reading might be for instance this cycle produced by Allen Millyard, single side, and built tough enough for the rigours of downhill mountain biking;

One of the other problems is finding compatible disc rotor to go with it, its a freak unique with an odd PCD and 5 bolts from memory.

Think I need to pull my finger out and push the RatracerSL so there is a modern(?) alternative bike

I've had this hope rotor sitting around in my garage since the 90's, free to a good home if it's of any use to anyone? I fitted it to the rear of a Proflex 856 from memory. No hub though I'm afraid!
