Hi,
I have just joined the forum to get details of the event next weekend, but other than the location, I cannot find any details about the event anywhere. What time do things kick off? Do I need to be a member to attend? Is there parking? etc. Ian Fardoe on the Recumbent Bike Riders community on Google Plus (https://plus.google.com/communities/105262315228937413676) suggested I should come along to learn more as I have recently acquired my first recumbent bike (an ICE B1) - still learning the very basics. I am hoping along to bring along my wife as well as my daughter (just before she returns to university) and her boyfriend (who is a very keen competitive mountain bike rider but loved my recumbent bike and wants to learn more). Any help/advice would be appreciated. Stuart PS. To the site webmaster: 1. Have you considered adding to the registration form lack a profile link for Google+ ? (It has Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn). 2. I note that your registration system emails the password registered with. This is considered very bad practice these days (not least as the system should not have a copy of the password but only of an encrypted version). Fortunately, it does not email a copy of the password when you change it.

Hi Stuart,
As per PM I've added you to the member's group on here. I'm sure Fiona will be in touch shortly regarding your membership. Plenty of parking at Shrewsbury - It is a large sports centre. The event organiser will announce details on here but racing is ilikely to start at around 11am. Best to arrive well before that to allow time to sign on and practice. There are no copies of user passwords that anyone can get to... |

Thanks Alan.
On the password front, just to be clear, are you saying that passwords are NOT stored in plain text? Obviously any file of passwords on a machine connected to the internet would be vulnerable (as so many high profile sites have discovered recently). I'm not especially concerned as I use strong unique passwords on each site and my passwords are unlikely to be in any rainbow tables and are a decent length (random character passwords of only 8 characters are so can be cracked in seconds by brute force now on a $50 graphics card). |

I've got a big list of them that I'm planning to sell to the North Koreans... No, they are definitely not stored in clear text or any other format that would allow any normal person to access them. Admins (Me, Keith or Twed) are able to reset your password if you lose or forget it, but we have no way of knowing what your current password is... Keith is the Webmaster. Any concerns should really be addressed to him (PM to KeithD)... |

Kyber,
I'll be disappointed if the local press (printed and electronic) don't carry an article. Both The Shropshire Star and NewsQuest Groups have received press notices and photos. Local bike shops and the Sundorne centre have also been sent posters. I should be at the Shrewsbury event and if the press have gone to sleep, I would like to be told, so that I can shout at them! Hi Stuart -
The answers to most of your questions about racing are on the Events page of the BHPC website in the 'BHPC Races' section. I admit that the information on start times wasn't very clear so I've now included it in the Events list. Andrew Sidwell Competition Secretary |
