While visiting the Bike show in the NEC last week I came across this;
http://www.festivalofcycling.org Festival of Cycling Harwood House Yorkshire 4-6 July 2014 The Tour de France is going through the grounds (apparently) Now I spoke to a friendly young lady and asked about the inclusion of recumbents and she was very positive. I cannot find any information on the site as it all seems a bit 'work in progress' So I can only suggest we keep a collective eye and see what develops. Kindest Regards Karl |

I don't believe so. It looks more like a commercial venture on the part of Harewood House, much as was the late and (by me, anyway) not very lamented Bike Blenheim event intended to be a money-spinner for that attraction.

There will be events going on in York that same weekend (York being the start town for stage 2), but I don't have details yet.

Rumour has it that the York Cycle Show has morphed into something like "York Cyclefest" which will still be at the racecourse.

Just received an email back from the Festival of Cycling event organisers... this was to my question as to if this a one off or a continuing event year after year,
Regards Karl
The company which The Festival of Cycling falls under is Harewood Events and we are working very closely with Welcome to Yorkshire to leave a legacy, so this will not be a once off event, it will be an annual event with the Tour merely headlining this year. |
