Hi Folks
having finaly had a chance to give the cobra low racer a good spin I can ride it ok but the front boom is a bit short and is I believe at it's max extended does anyone know where I may get a longer carbon fibre boom that would make it more comfortable.

Try contacting Kamil at Velokraft. He may be able to help, however it seems likely that to shape is specific to the Cobra ;-(

What is the external diameter of the tube? I have a couple of alloy booms but my memory is that neither matches the Cobra. However you could fit a plastic sleeve (e.g. a piece of drainpipe) over the tube to bring it up to the right diameter. Alternatively the Optima parts shop is the usual source for recumbent body parts. If it has to be carbon then VK is probably the only commercial source in the world. You can sometimes buy VK parts cheaper from the US (e.g. Bent Up Cycles) then direct from Kamil because of odd effects of duty and conversion rates. You may still need a sleeve though, and in this case it would be beneficial because of the problems of clamping carbon on carbon - ask anyone with a carbon seatpost in a carbon frame. |

Of course the boom has to match the bottom bracket, which has to match the pedal cranks. To save you taking it all apart (unless you already have) the BB on the Cobra is the standard threaded sort: 68 x 108mm with ISIS-spline spindle (FSA Platinum Pro if you're really interested!). Hence the pedals are also ISIS spline (and come from Velokraft).

I did wonder what bottom bracket it was that has saved me asking around thank you glad somebody knows what they are on about I have not dismantled it yet as I am due in hospital on monday so I may wait untill I am sorted and try it at a race and see how I go , I'm not going to get another all carbon lowracer any time soon so I would like to probably keep it carbon if I can.

How much is "a bit"? And how long are the existing cranks? It might be simpler/cheaper just to fit longer cranks. |

thanks for that but if I fit longer cranks then at the back end of my pedal stroke my knees would be closer to me and catch on the handlebar more , shorter cranks my be the other option.
