I have just bought a Milan SL and am finding the foot clearance a bit tight. I have the front storage bins which limit space. The first port of call is shoe/pedal changes. I currently use SPD pedals with Sidi Dominator shoes. Would changing to road shoes/pedals help, if so, how much narrower are they. Any suggestions for makes/models/pedal combinations.

Road shoes are generally smaller around the heels and (to a smaller extent) around the toes than similarly racy SPD shoes, just because there aren’t any walking pads glued to the sole of the road shoes Cheap SPD shoes get closer to sneaker/ BMX styling and can be quite a bit larger than road shoes. The overall width of Dominators isn’t hugely different to road shoes.
The internal fit has to be the same because the same feet are going into the shoes, whether SPD or road. Edited by LWaB - 28 December 2022 at 5:21pm |

Thanks for that. I use Dominators but think they may come up wider now due to long use and general decrepitude. It might be time for a new pair.
Do you have experience of relative pedal axle length.

Mark, very few velomobile riders frequent these hallowed pages, we're all on facebook or post on the German Forum, English is allowed
, although Deepl normally makes a good translation. If you don't do facebook then I would suggest posting here https://www.velomobilforum.de/forum/index.php?forums/velomobile.2/ where there are many Milan SL riders. I think the storage bins will be the cause of any width issues with unclipping if that is the problem.
