Rookie question from the shed

   Hi All,

Not precisley about our sort of bikes but an HPV none the less. I bought a Dawes Galaxy frame and found the threads in the bottom bracket part are too worn to accept a new bottom bracket. I have found, on ebay, some BBs that are for shells with worn threads, the two halfs screw into each other, they are 68 mm wide which is correct for my frame. My question is that they come in various sizes, 
110mm, 113mm, 116mm, 119mm or 122.5mm, how do I measure what one I need for a double chain wheel crank? Please help or I will have to come in from the shed and watch Strictly!

	Stuart - not such a rookie question: spindle length is a minefield. The length of axle you need depends crucially on the make/design of the righthand crank and where you want the chainline as well as, of course, the crank/axle type (square-taper or splined). If you haven't already found it Sheldon Brown's Bottom Bracket Database has an excruciating amount of detail. It may not have your exact cranks (unless they're Shimano) but you should at least be able to find the measurements you need to make.
