Saw the local playing fields being dug up last week so went on the local Govt planning website to find out what was happening. Turns out the local sports college are building a cycle track not but a stone's throw from my house. Paste the following link into your web browser to see a plan of the 800metre track and associated facilities. As soon as it is up and running, which I'm guessing will be in time for tour de Yorkshire (France), I'll post some piccies and track review.

Should I buy some more trick bits for the Furai or just buy Optima High Baron.......

Maybe a chance for a double header in 2015 with Bradford where I'm professionally involved with a new 2.2km proposal little more than 6 miles form this proposed circuit.

Crikey! You're really going to be spoilt for choice up there with the new track in York as well...

You'll be able to hold the Yorkshire HPV Championships!

I wish there were some in the East Midlands Unhappy, as someone who was born and grew up in Yorkshire and lived not far from Bath (new track at Odd Down, (I used to work about half a mile away from this track)) and Castle Combe, I'm particularly grumpy about the situation.

I read that Hope, purveyors of fine cycle accessories are also planning a Velodrome on the other side of the pennines at Barnoldswick.

http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/news/10501154.Cycling_company_Hope_Technology_unveils_plans_for_velodrome_in_Barnoldswick/

Like busses, you wait a lifetime for one decent track and then we are inundated with them.

Suits me having a more Northern centric race series :-)

Good news Ian (provided you're not a keen birder) - the new road circuit at Derby has just been approved, next to the new velodrome:

I also hear there are plans for something similar at Harvey Haddon stadium in Nottingham. Still nothing in Melton Mowbray yet though - sorry.
