OK so I landed myself in it by mentioning this to Alan and then volunteering at the AGM. York Cycle Show is one of the largest gathering of cyclists in the UK and is being held this year over the weekend of 21st-23rd June (yes it clashes with the Worlds), the event is held in the centre of York Racecourse with camping for those who wish to stay for the weekend, static and active cycling displays, food and drink, private sales, a cycle jumble, a cycle auction and trade areas where suppliers can ply their trade. More details at http://www.ctc.org.uk/york-cycle-show and I can thoroughly recommend the event as both a recumbent rider and a general cyclist. The plan is that as we used to have we should have a marquee displaying some of our machines, publicity material and membership information. The purpose of having a stand is threefold:- 1) to have a central point where our members can gather and socialise together 2) an opportunity to promote the club 3) possibly recruit and sign up new members It is my intention to be on site from Friday night when the marquee will be erected and then I will be camping over until Sunday night. To allow me to go forward and sort whether or not we're going ahead with the stand I need to know if there's any volunteers to help out with the event by spending some time on the stand and/or putting their machine / machines on display. So like so many other people at the minute I'm looking for volunteers. Any body going to volunteer - anybody got any questions?
Barney

Barney, i'm not commiting just yet, but it would make a good long weekend training run for me leading up to LEL, of course 2 days loafing in the beer tent will help, err i mean manning the stall!
But, I am not lugging my 7kg 3 man tent, so would need somebody who is going to a pre York race meet to take it for me, then look after it until i can pick it up! It would mean you have a Quest XS on the stall as well, but no clambering in it !

OK, so we have a quorum of non-committed, maybe's and "I'll help if's" so I'm going ahead and booking a stand.
It should be a good weekend and all are welcome, please if you're thinking about going let me know and consider dropping into the stand for a chat with whoever happens to be there.
This will probably be the easiest bit of helping out that you can do on behalf of the club.
Barney
Ps. Yes Ian I can carry your tent as I suspect the extra weight would seem too much like hard t****ng and we don't want anybody getting caught doing that do we.

Hello Yanto. I am researching into buying a Quest XS. I see from your post that you have such a vehicle if that is the right phrase. If you are going to be at York it would be worth my while visiting the show. Could you drop me any info re your own bike and how you aquired it. Some photos would be good as well

Hi Barney, we were going to the Worlds but have decided to come to the York Rally instead, so we can help out with manning the stand etc., except when the recumbent ride is on. We can bring some bikes along for the stand too I guess. Will firm up plans as the event approaches.

Thanks Geoff, if I know you and Fiona are going to be there then I'll see if we can't organise some decent beer and refreshments.
Looking forward to catching up with both of you at the races.
