Hi there,

My group and I are discussing how to design the attachment points for the chassis to the carbon fibre fairing. Does anyone have any tips or experience in this area that might help us?

Thanks,

Ben

Gonna be lots of different variables whether your drilling or bonding attachment points but common factor will always be to spread the load. Drilling - ali, rubber backed washers

Spread and shed the load, make the mountings weaker than the fairing. Hook and loop pads maybe? Zip ties come in graded strengths, ratcheting copes with large tolerances, their elasticity can help with vibration, lighter than bolts & cheaper. Fix to perforated aluminium patches (on Amazon 1mm thick with 5mm holes) glued inside the fairing, or even self-adhesive tile mesh. No I've not tried this

You can also use a mirror push-button fastener (e.g. Clip-On from Kristall-Form) to attach mirrors easily. The small piece for the wall is screwed to the frame. Then the large pane with self-adhesive backing is inserted into the small piece. Now the protective film is peeled off the large pane and the fairing is pressed onto it - instead of the mirror in the original use.
The advantage of this assembly is that it can be easily removed and replaced at any time. https://media.cdn.bauhaus/m/482883/12.webp%20 - Clip on
