OK, we have discovered a truly superb track, in Bradford of all places!
gNick said he would try and add the pictures therefore I will leave the picture numbers in...
What can I say... It looks to be the most exciting track to date!
First things first.
Access is good. 2 roundabouts from the M606 which is off the M62.
It is attached to a Leisure Centre. It also has a swimming pool with HUGE
water pipe slide thingies. (The Cobra Thrill ride). Great for kids and hangers on methinks.
Now to the track....
Newly surfaced this summer. Surface is superb, a lot of the corners are
banked.
Its mostly fenced off with only
a few marshalls being required at various strategic points.
The track looks to be really good fun, with completely different experiences
depending if it is run clockwise or anti clockwise.
Running clockwise would produce the fastest times.
I will roughly describe a clockwise lap (as I imagine it)>
Start/finish line just after bend. Looooong downhill straight. (pic
110) Sweep hard right below the football pitch into a double bend, (pic
109), out and up into another double bend (pic114, looking backwards,
track is on left), course sweeps round the centre, then sharp left and
up to a very tight 360 degree hairpin (pic111 looking backwards). Down
from the hairpin, round the final banked corner and back onto the straight.
When we scouted out Preston I thought "this looks very nice". When I saw
this I thought "this looks like amazing fun".
Run in the opposite direction would give a long uphill straight with a
downhill sweep past the centre into the complex of bends at the bottom,
Pics 114 and 119.
For those members reasonably close I am considering organising a
morning or afternoon unofficial track tryout followed by a curry
sometime after the AGM before the weather gets too bad. If you
are interested let me know at eh AGM or by email

Let us know when and, if we are free, we'll see what it's like in an Apollo.

Now that does sound fun. Does it mean that there's a crossover. Or maybe you really meant 180 degrees .
Seriously, it sounds excellent, and all the various contingents north of Birmingham will no doubt be pleased.

So you've been there already Geoff? Don't forget the purveyors of that local delicacy, the curry!
