Thanks very much to all those doing the organising at Castle Coombe... Wonder if the pedal car boys have stopped yet.... 2 hours was plenty for me. |

I second those sentiments:thanks to Kevin, Jon, Jonathan, gNick and the
two lovely Mrs Goodpersons - I'm also thankful that the rain was kind
enough to wait until we'd finished.
Noticeable how thin on the ground we were in the sports class - you'd have thought we should stick together, but oh no, you had to go and lap me !Just you wait until I've had my NHS leg transplant, mate. Neil |

We finished about 3 hours after the rain started Really nice to see HPV's and pedal cars cohabiting again though. Let's hope it's the first of many. Next year? Same time same place> |

We were lucky with the rain, and just got in before it started for real. As for you guys - you must have been pretty wet by the time you finished. Well Done.

Great job, thanks to all who helped. BTW for those who may be wondering why the BPCC timing system wasn't actually running, it seems there was a problem with the computer not recognising its own serial port. Since we are intending to have a dedicated box this shouldn't be a problem. Kevin, what is the power drain of your laptop? I have a 12V 7Ah SLA battery going spare at the moment and I was wondering if it will have enough juice to manage an event.

Yes, human lap counters sometimes make the odd mistake (there were about 5000 laps counted in total by very very cold lap counters yesterday and we think only 1 mistake and 1 counter sticking on a "10" both of which were resolved). But, to totally screw things up, you need a computer! What are the chances of a bullet-proof lap top failing to recognise it's own port? |

Ok so we keep the old 486 the club bought many years ago as a backup beastie. It will be able to run the BASIC lapcount program. I have an old MAC powerbook as well, I wonder if that could be used? Or persuade Data from Star Trek Next Generation to come and do the scoring for us, being a robot no problems; or Kryten; or Marvin; or the Famous Eccles... ...my excuse is I'm having a very bad day. |
