Legs_larry this is very sad, and even worse, we are not going to get this years Battle Mountain report online and in the mag. However I have a cunning plan.

To add insult to injury I have just learned that the 2021 edition has also been called off. Bad Swears have been uttered.

Maybe if you're saving the money when you do get out there (fingers crossed next year) you will be able to rent a real American fast car like the SSC Tuatara or Hennessay Venom, or go down market with a Ford GT

There is the small problem of The Luggage, which is of a size suitable for transporting medium-sized murder victims. And that anything much more upmarket than a Mustang GT tends to be 50 miles a day before the hire company starts charging – through the nose – per mile. Even if I just went straight there and back from Las Vegas or San Francisco it's about 900 miles; a three or four week road trip is going to be at least five times that.
I'll put out the begging bowl… |

2022 has been officially confirmed as Happening and after months of procrastination I have finally reserved a motel room for the duration. Now the painful bit – flight, car hire, ESTA and other money-guzzling things that are anathema to the part of my soul that is forever Yorkshire. And trying not to catch the Plague in the week before departure.

I see that from today USAnia has dropped the requirement for a negative plague test the day before getting into the Shiny Metal Birb to travel across the stormy North Atlantic. Hurrah

That's good news. Hopefully there won't be any requirements for masks at all too - my face really doesn't like them. Rooms booked here, flights in progress, car and van hire logistics (bike transport shared with LSBU) are in the process of being sorted. :) Shall we start a 2022 thread (not to tempt fate...) Off to Scunthorpe today again with John and Andrew for testing seventyseven with the camera system for the first time...
