I know i will get slapped and told to get back in my box or be barred, but, why oh why under the BHPC Club Activities - Racing have we got pedal car season racing? I don't recall the Pedal Car Club or whatever they are called being affilliated with the BHPC club.
I have nothing against the peeps that take part in car racing, nor taking part in our races. I just can't grasp why it is being posted here as over 99% of BHPC race goers are unable to take part in car races. I'll go back to my box now! |

Nope - Everybody is entitled to their opinion and as long as nothing posted is offensive or abusive the only things I ever remove are the annoying spam posts that we get quite regularly.
You don't have to look too far down the first page of our constitution to find that the first objective of the BHPC is:
"To promote the riding and construction of human powered vehicles on land, water and in air for competition, recreation and utility purposes."
Pedal cars are human powered vehicles and so promoting their riding and construction for competition here seems fine to me... Bearing in mind that the post was of course made by a current BHPC member.
The previous thread on this board is about Battle Mountain, which is also not a BHPC event and is attended by a lot less BHPC members than pedal car races.... but is of interest to members and so doesn't look out of place to me here either...
For the record, there have been a lot more than 1% of BHPC race-goers taking part in pedal car races recently. Off the top of my head (apologies to any I've missed)...
Me
Dave
Casey
Hollie
Liam
Darren
Sam
Neil Hood
Neil Fleming
Graydog
Mrs Graydog...
Fards
Twed
Sarah
Hannah
Rob Gillions
And of course Jes...
Neil Carter designs and builds the BAR cars that are usually running at the top end of the pedal car races.
Going back a bit further gNick, Dave Larrington, Slash, Miles and others have raced pedal cars at one time or another...
Miles has said that he may run the Quatro in a pedal car race...
You don't have to have a pedal car to race - There are always teams looking for drivers... Especially the 24 hour race but at most other rounds as well.
I really hope that more BHPC members come along and have a go in a pedal car race.... I'd be amazed if anybody who enjoys BHPC races didn't have a great time in a pedal car...
If you choose not to that's fine, but I see absolutely nothing wrong with making members aware that the opportunity is available.

It might have been better if Jes had posted in Public > Other Events, but better mainly for BPCC because more people (i.e. including BHPC non-members) would have been able to see it.
I'm not going to get upset about the categorisation of the odd post here or there, though. |

I think that's a good point.
I'll copy the dates there as well.

Cheers, that's what i meant, it's in the wrong place, that is what i should have said!
I was mis-understood when i said about over 99% unable to take part. As far as i know only Quattro can do it therefore only one person out of all those racing in BHPC events can take part in a car race at one time.
Oh and if i'm allowed i still might put myself forward for a bash in a car!
