All,

The 2007 European Pedal Car Championships will be held over the weekend of September 1st and 2nd at the rather brilliant Blackbushe circuit.

This weekend is also rounds 6 and 7 of the 2007 BPCC, with 6 hours of racing on both days, so if anyone fancies standing around waiting to race* for large parts of two days, now's the time to organise some friends (a team is four drivers plus whatever support people you wish) and arrange to borrow a car (unless you're going to build one in the next 7 weeks).

If you need a car and don't know where to start with organising the borrow of one, let me know as soon as possible.

Those BHPC regulars who raced at Curborough a couple of years ago did, I seem to remember, have fun; from a driver's perspective Blackbushe is more technically demanding and thus more rewarding and even more fun. Especially if it's damp...

Any 'BHPC affiliated' team can race without paying the annual BFPCR registration fee (£25). Race entry and driver licence fees are unchanged. 'BHPC affiliated' means a team made up mainly of BHPC members; it doesn't mean non-members who happen to have read this post on this forum!

NB. Due to the circuit size, the field is limited to 35 cars. Some of these places are reserved for invitees from mainland Europe and other pedal car events, the remaining 30-ish are first-come-first-served. I don't envisage this causing the rejection of any would-be entrants, but you never know...

Race entries and driver licences can be bought in our online shop. Although arranging a car first might be a good idea...

*A.k.a. Eating, hydrating, resting, taking lap times, keeping an eye on the opposition, adapting strategies to suit and generally supporting your team mates in a teamly sort of manner.

I might be up for that if we can get a team together...

Cool. The sooner you do (if you do), the better the chance of borrowing a decent car!

Anybody up for flying the BHPC flag (perhaps we could manage to do the whole event without getting disqualified this time... )

Just remember, a team is four drivers*!

*Although the weekend is two seperate BPCC events, so you don't have to use the same four drivers both days. Just you can only use four on any given day and they have to be named on the teamsheet, in advance of the race.

Looks like we may now have two as I've had a PM from another possible...

By my calculations that's 50% of a team...

I think at Curborough we had a few members who'd travelled up to have a look and when they saw how much fun it looked they couldn't resist the temptation to have a play...

We'll try to behave this time...

If you get more people interested than will fit, you may well find one or two other teams have a spare seat.

It looks as though we have a very generous offer of the loan of a car....

Anybody else interested in having a go at this (it really was great fun last time...)

On the other hand, I also have a couple of experienced drivers willing to fill in if you don't raise a 4!

The car ran to 3rd and 4th places respectively on the 2 days we had at Shenington the other weekend by the way so it's fairly compeitive.

Racing is life...
Anything which happens before or afterwards is just standing around waiting to race....

Any takers??
