Neither of those slots sound useful for anyone travelling there just for the race.
And a campsite with 1000s and bars and bands after sunset sounds like a nightmare!!!
Bah, humbug!

They do say that they're very keen to have us there.  It's true that even the original slot we were offered (09.00 - 10.00) wasn't at all good for anyone travelling any distance to the event.

The bands finish at 11pm.  For anyone wanting a quieter camp there is a "family" camp site, though with a limited number of pitches and on a first-come first-served basis.

The clear consensus is for the Saturday evening, so that's what we'll do.

We have the track from somewhere between 7.30pm and 8pm (exact time depends on previous races which, like ours, are on a one-hour-plus-a-lap basis so can't be timetabled precisely) until nightfall.

Just checking out the camping. Please note that you won't be allowed on the quiet "family" camp site unless you have a child under 12 with you.
There are 250 pitches on that site but there is no pre-booking available.

My guess would be that the other camp site will be a nightmare (probably good fun but not great for getting much sleep).
No vehicles will be allowed on that site by the way - cars will need to be left in the car park.

Does anybody know any good normal camp sites in the area??
