I've just heard from Shrewsbury that their newly resurfaced track may not now be ready for the weekend. Apparently needs some additional minor work done to meet safety inspection requirements before they can open it for use. Will hopefully know by mid-week.

Stourport is available on Sunday 1st Aug.

Would obviously prefer a shrewsbury sunday as I'm conscious people will have already made plans and/or booked camping/accommodation  

So, I'll contact Shrewsbury on Wed.

If they cant give a definite yes to the track being ready on time, I'll book stouport for the Sunday, so we'll have 2 days at the same venue.

Sounds sensible to me...

I think we're probably safe saying it will be a 90 minute race and a flying lap regardless of the venue...

They will contact me tommorrow to confirm when this has been done.

As soon as I hear, I will post on Facebook 'n' Forum to let everybody know for definite whether Sunday 1st Aug will be at Shrewsbury.

If someone (or multiple someones) can bring about 50m of mains extension lead(s), we can at least use the LED race clock (which I currently have) as a simple time display.  I've got a 25m reel, but we need about 75m to reach the finish line at Stourport.

Also, something we can use for flags and bells.  I believe red petticoats are traditional :)

If any videographers feel like paying extra attention to covering the race finishes in their entirety, that would be helpful for resolving quibbles.  Racers, keep your GPS recordings!

We'll definitely be racing at shrewsbury on Sun 1st Aug, (as originally advertised). The track has just this afternoon been signed off and approved for use.

Don't forget (for anyone who has been holding off booking, race registration for Shrewsbury (sun) as well as Stourport (on sat) is open until 10pm this eve.

I've manually entered the flying lap times into CrossMgr as if it were a time trial, as that gives the most sensible output.  (Pay no attention to the way it thinks everyone started simultaneously at 20:57 this evening.)

Pretty solid results from the timing system for the 90 minute race.  I merely had to set a couple of DNFs and remove some phantom laps recorded during a comfort break.

So I'm not expecting much in the way of quibbles.  Anyone got any class changes or anything?

My Strava seems to agree exactly with the manual timing of the flying lap... :)

The piece of paper has "30 (2:07) [scribbled out digit] 1:27.39" written on it, in reasonably unambiguous handwriting.  1:27 is what's shown in the results, so it's not my transcription error.  2:07 would put him below our newest junior rider, which seems unlikely (presumably a warm-up lap?).

Perhaps Steve can elaborate, he was writing things down...

For further confusion, the RFID system recorded the following times for him: {14:11.39, 2:36.83,2:02.85,1:46.37} none of which seem to correlate with the above.  The 1:46.37 sounds plausible, though.  Maybe the 2:02 if he was having a bad day?

(By way of comparison, both Jochen and I have stopwatch times of 1:34.  RFID recorded 1:33.26 for me and 1:34.32 for Jochen - I checked this earlier, because I found it surprising.  Previous experience of tandem riders with tags on both helmets suggests that you can't read much sub-second precision into the RFID times.)
