There is a Trans America Bike Race going on at the moment. Roughly 100 riders started on the 4300 mile route. Two of the cycles are velomobiles and at present they are in 1st and 2nd position. The lead velomobile is an Alpha 7. The map shows real time position of the riders:

About 75% of the race completed so far.

About an hour to the finish.

The two velomobiles have finished the 4300 miles Trans Am race:
Marcel came in 1st in the Alpha 7
Dave came 4th in the Milan

It will be interesting to see what they do with velomobiles in future trans Am races:
a) ban them
b) give them their own category
c) carry on as before

For whatever reason the German velomobile forum padlocked further discussion about the Alpha 7.

Here is a video with Dave and the Milan, I love the parachute:

I've ordered a Trans Am Edition of the Alpha 7 which is the new smaller and faster one. Big smile
