I think I did 11 laps and a average of 17.1 mph for the second race, I did 10.48 miles.  My garmin agrees with the average speed for the first race.

Yup, the e-timing system gave you 11 laps for the second race too - thanks for confirming.

Much enjoyed spectating/photographing the racing today, in the usual friendly atmosphere.

Here is a selection of images from the day:

I trust the one or two spills didn't leave their riders with any lasting damage! Thanks to all, and looking forward to visiting again next year.

Many thanks, Mike. Some great photos well up with your usual standard. I like the https://rc-soar.smugmug.com/HPV/Hillingdon-2-2016/i-4Tn66Lq/A" rel="nofollow - moody monochrome shot of the Beano on an entirely deserted track, almost as if Slash was well away from the rest of the field.

I can probably explain the disagreement between stopwatch and computer wizardry for Patrick Keen....
After the race he came over to us organisatory types and fessed up to taking a short cut so that he could ride with his brother...
He was therefore docked a lap and told that he was a very naughty boy... He was last seen shoving newspaper down the back of his shorts and heading for the Comp Sec's study...

That will be Lap 8 when the dastardly deed was done then?

Nice to see that Hillingdon now has some more route options, Perhaps next year we could do some races on the smaller circuit without the hairpin?

What? And neutralise almost the only advantage an upright might have against an HPV? How is that sportsman-like?

Seriously, thank you to the club, Dave and Andrew, for a great day's racing. Really enjoyed the day.

Hi, is there another depository for images of the hillingdon weekend anywhere? I didn't film this weekend (onboard) due to total incompetence and was hoping for an image of myself and press ganged brother, duelling for pride not position........

I noticed a few lens-smiths snapping from various points on the track and was sure I'd been pinged a few times, but alas nothing in the dispatches so far?

grateful for any digital morsel, grassias

I meant Alan, not Dave. Sorry, Alan. All day at a computer. A little cross-eyed. In answer to Patrick Keen: I may have some shots of the two of you, but I haven't finished editing. If and when! T.

Mike, out of interest, roughly how many shots did you take on the day, that were then edited down to the 30 or so you chose to upload to the gallery?
(phenomenal photography once again btw)

Hi Russell, I shot around 440 images, a bit more than usual because as it was first time out with a new camera body (Pentax K-70). All the browsing, selection and editing was done within Adobe Lightroom; the best images were then exported as JPEGs and then imported into a new web gallery.  It's a straightforward workflow, the main task was the initial whittling down of the 100's of images.

Thanks - very interesting.  You've got to be brutal with your selection process - but the result is 30 superb shots rather than 100 average ones...

You're surely not just saying that because Russell Bridge features in about 20 of them? LOL

I was just easier to photograph due to an embarrassing lack of speed... LOL

I particularly like the https://rc-soar.smugmug.com/HPV/Hillingdon-2-2016/i-NcP3LzS/A" rel="nofollow - bewildered look trapped amongst a tangle of legs and chains. There's a magazine cover there or maybe a publicity leaflet.

I have a question for James Hamilton. I'm correct in believing you were cruelly 'taken-out' by our friendly neighbourhood uncle Shawn (along with Brian Robertson) mid-way through the first race? Two questions, really - what actually happened? and it looked as though, without that set-back, you'd have topped 22mph average speed - what were you getting in training?
Well done, by the way. On performance alone, but also for not punching Shawn AND getting straight back in the race.

Tarx.

Basically in the crash, the pedal car with the number 3 on it overtook Shaun but slowed down a bit afterwards. Shaun then rode into the back of the pedal car which sent him to the left sideways and then I rode into Shaun and crashed. I made sure Shaun was ok and set of with in a minute or so, but Shaun walked back.
As for training, I haven't really done any since Derby.

I was right behind and I think there was a wheel touch. This was between Shawn and a Peddle car in front. Shawn then went down and then so did James - who I think was behind Shawn. Somehow I did not touch anyone but I stopped anyway to see if Shawn and James were OK.
Disclaimer
This happened quite fast so I may not have noted this correctly.
