I've managed to secure the services of my long suffering girlfriend so I'll be chauffeured from doorstep to racetrack on each occasion. I feel this is only due to making provisions to stay the night over in Hull for the Scuthorpe race however...

Andy, gNick and me are all booked in to Redbank Farm. Note - you have to ring up. They don't book by email.

Can I make a plea for a change from half hour each way? Getting a bit fed up with it. Single lappers and a longer race? Even longer race on Sunday?

For those camping at Redbank, the pub has done good food in the past. Last time there was some kind of event on. It is http://www.royalhotelbls.co.uk/dine.php
If anyone is interested I can give them a ring and find out. Supposed to be a downloadable menu but I couldn't find it.

A long race sounds good for Preston certainly, I enjoyed last year massively even with the mild off track excursion...
As we can't run the gear for the sprint at Lancaster then a timed lap could be a good replacement. I would prefer it to 2 x 30 minute races anyhow.

As for the Scunthorpe spelling, I'm surprised I managed to get it that close considering my complete lack of brain power last night!

Sorry Jonathan, but I have to make a plea for the shorter both ways races to continue.  More track time is my first priority, so as long as the races aren't too short I want them to continue.  I prefer the short sprints and it gives onyone who had a failure (mechanical or personal) to make some amends.  Where racing is a 2-day affair I would like to have one long race and shorter ones too.  In short, keep it varied- something for everyone.  A one lapper and a 90 minute race is too extreme imo.

I'm inclined to agree with Howard - and for me the one lappers mean far too much time standing around in a queue for far too little riding (and blasting away with cold legs...)

Having said that I fully support the idea that whoever steps up to organise should decide what the format of the races should be.

There are still opportunities to decide races as we still have events to come this year with no organisers...

Indeed there are, at:
  • Scunthorpe
  • Shrewsbury
  • Hillingdon II (though there's a constraint here that the event needs to accommodate the AGM as well as the racing

I like the variety of races this year. The Devil at Reading was as blast and the 2 half hour races gives you a chance to change tactics for the second race. Why not try a 20min/40min instead of 30/30 might produce some interesting results. Be nice to have a few longer races Preston/Fowlmead bieng the obvious choices.
