Geoff, have you contacted velomobile.nl?  Ginko steel idlers are about 40euro IIRC not light but very strong! they are a tad noisy though, but not like the thrashing machine you seem to have under your seat at the moment!

Do you mean threshing machine Ian or is there a device I've not heard about?? Shocked  I take your point though. Especially annoying as it's constantly rotating. It's on the return side of the chain so shouldn't be under much load.

nope I meant thrashing, threshing sounds too gentile, and not at all like a torture machine that it currently sounds like!

I thought received wisdom was that the return idler didn't have to be toothed because it didn't matter if the chain was sitting on the sideplates. Or is just something else that you engineering types like to bicker about? Wink

Yehbut, my final drive has more chain tension than a derailleur system - think fixie.

Fitted Terracycle idler before Hog Hill and the bike is now a lot quieter and possibly faster Thumbs Up
