Thanks. Nationwide's standard charge is £9 so it's a better deal as well.

Marc has confirmed the Paypal/Xoom route works - he's had confirmation of payment. :)

I don't know if this has been spoken about. The rules say "Participants must provide a medical certificate indicating that he or she is ‘’fit for competitive cycling’’. This has to be of less than one year old on the day of racing." I am not aware of any way to obtain such a certificate. NHS doctors won't usually do this. Marc, can we self certify? I guess a B/C racing licence might do, but that is the last thing most of us are likely to have.

I had this conversation with Marc last week – most GPS's will charge for this (standard is £40 and you may have up to a 40-day wait), some may not. You may also be able to get away with not seeing a GP if someone who has access to your medical records can attest you've not got a condition that's going to make you explode when you ride :)

It is worthwhile noting there is not way to officially check these documents once they've crossed the pond – but I'm not sure what complications would arise for the ACV if you were to have a stroke mid race etc.

If you want to go belt and braces you could also go for one of the private exams lory drivers to - again, £40-50 round by me by you may know someone.

This is a very common requirement from countries like France and Belgium.

I had to do this years ago to summer ski on a glazier in France and we also had to do this for Belgium for the Maasmechelen WC2015.

This involves a visit to the doctor who normally asks if you are fit enough and then will generate a letter for you. It may involve paying a small admin fee.

The good news is that the UK EHICs will still be valid in France for WC2019.

The medical stiffticket used to be a requirement for Paris-Brest-Paris until ACP realised it was utterly pointless because of the impossibility of checking.  An NHS logo downloaded off that The Internet, that they have now, a couple of lines of medico-legalese, an indecipherable signature and you're good to go.

NB: The Code Napoléon probably has a word for this ~ The Mgt

The organisers have no way of checking either.

It's public liability insurance isn't it? Never heard of a claim in the HPV world in all my time racing. Not sure how the riders medical condition would cause a public liability claim anyway.

Marathon runners fake certificates quite routinely looking at their forums.
