Thanks to all those who came to Rhyl today and provided a good days entertaining racing. Particularly for the battles between Messrs Watson, and Ballantine, Robertson and Keen (new member Patrick, welcome and well done!).

Thanks to the rain gods who kept away in favour of the wind gods and thanks to those who helped with organising. I have never before seen grown men arguing over who should ring the bell and wave the flag!

My favourite track...and good to see everyone again.  Congrats again to John Lucian who managed to sneak up on me in the last lap in the first race, despite being in a bright blue velomobile the size of an A380.  I think I need my eyes checked... :)

Great to meet you guys at Rhyl, here is a link to the second (slow) race which is probably only of interest to Brian and Shawn.
Its in six bits I think, I'm trying to get the file sizes smaller as my little go-pro copy was set on HD

Great day out, I nearly didn't make it but glad I did. My first time at Rhyl, what a nice track. A very large windbreak would be useful, but you can't have everything.
I stayed on this time, for two races. Although I did lay a pretty black line on the far side of the track, so prominent that Slash remarked on it. Sorry John, but I think I was more scared than you were.
Still beaten soundly by the slippery sexagenarian, despite my attempts to nobble him in my camper van the night before. Steady!
Age before beauty.

Well a difficult return to racing after a turbulent beginning of the year;
A few points;
Chatting with a few folk I predict a homebuilding revolution in the winter… Just hope ambition doesn’t outstrip ability? You know who you are ;-)
Nice to see new faces, and old ones too, Slash needs to be handicapped with a parachute.
I promised myself I wasn’t going to push too hard.. yeh who am I kidding, tried keeping up with youngsters on two wheels! Fell asleep at the dinner table after the race!
As natural as it is red wine is not the fuel of champions nor isotonic, but I’m willing to still try and prove some benefit for science.

Thank you to the kind lady who let me ring the bell and wave the flag and the nice gentleman watching telly... my mum was so proud when I told her :-)

Till next time

Andrew,

I might be wrong I usually am according to Kate, but I think I might be missing a laps from the first 45min race... I know I didn't get a bell lap due to the unique way in slash can get the bell then pass me and only be rewarded with the chequered flag for my efforts.

If its a load is hassle I'm not bothered as I not up for winning anything this year due to lack of races.

I'm impressed to see Pete Watson starting clipped in, propped up on two fingers ala Larrington of old. Is that what they teach them in school these days?

Clap

Just looked on Strava to check what my borrowed Garmin 1000 had put up there. My second race has been flagged; was this the previous KOM holder, I wonder?
I know all the fuss about Strava, but race tracks? Fair game? Maybe not.
