Do we have a couple of volunteers for race organising at York??

If any folks who haven't done it before fancy having a go I'll happily help guide you through what needs to be done.

Unlike previous years, the weather forecast for York is looking promising

race Organisers get to choose race format and also take credit for the fine racing conditions on the day. :)

Race Format for this Sunday at York:

Slow race 20 mins + 1 lap
Fast Race 20 mins + 1 lap

then

Slow Race 40 mins + 1 lap
Fast Race 40 mins + 1 lap

Then a Devil elimination race (no points) if we've got time to fit it in...(all competitors start together then the last over the line each lap gets eliminated)

Sounds like a plan. I need to know weightings of the two rounds to set up the race software - I'll guess at 33/67% then you can change on the day if you wish.

40/60 please (in order to encourage a more dare-devil approach to the first race...)

Thanks to, in no particular order, Russell, Chris and the ever organised Andrew and Heather. A great days racing. It was my first sighting of the newly bionisced Mr B and it's good to see him racing again.

Then the longer (40 mins) races:

Round 2 Race 1

Pos Name Nr Bike Name Class Laps Time MPH
1 Geoff Bird 50 HPV-heaven T-7 O/St 23 43:48.22 19.5

10 Max Farwer 57 Isla O/P/U/St/S/J 13 45:17.54 10.7
11 Jon Coulson 62 AM2 O/P/U/St/S 9 43:48.22 7.7

Round 2 Race 2

Pos Name Nr Bike Name Class Laps Time MPH
1 Derrick Tweddle 96 Yellowdonkey O 28 42:34.47 24.5
2 Neil Fleming 7 Quest XS O/Mf 27 42:48.25 23.5
3 Russell Bridge 13 NoCom O/P/U 26 43:12.38 22.4
4 Chris Hamilton 32 Rapto O/P 26 43:18.69 22.3
5 John Lucian 86 Blue Wave O/Mf 26 43:50.12 22.1
6 Gus Norcliffe 184 Baron O/P/U/St/S 25 43:12.07 21.5
7 Mike Burrows 0 X O/P 25 43:18.29 21.5
8 Simon Watson 55 spelk O/P/U 22 42:57.12 19.0
9 Jack Watson 54 Bob Unfaired O/P/U 22 43:12.76 18.9
10 Johnny Appleby Snr 4 TWBents Trike / road bike O/P/U 19 42:55.22 16.5
11 Ian Squires 150 bream O 18 44:41.00 15.0
12 Jochan Farwer 66 Highracer O/P/U/St/S 4 42:34.47 3.5

A couple of riders changed their bikes for the second race: in this case you score points only in those classes which are common to both bikes. E.g. Johnny Appleby Snr swapped from a TWBents trike (O/P/U/M/MF) to an upright road bike (O/P/U/St/Sp) so is in O/P/U classes for both races.

Now let's really hear those quibbles...

My thanks too to the efficient and capable organising team, Russ and Heather, and to my personal team of tent wranglers as well as to everyone else who helped to make the day run slickly and smoothly. However our thoughts tonight are with those whose bikes tragically failed to come home in one piece, most notably Jochen but also Ian Squires.
