Russ,

Llanbedr airfield near Harlech is now a private field since the RAF moved out. You may be able to arrange a time when they aren't flying and they do have a long runway.

Hi Russ, AFAIK, Upper Heyford is mainly housing/industrial estates now, but nearby Enstone (which Top Gear used to use) may be a possibility. They are both close to me.

Thanks all - lots of emails pinged out to various airfields, track day companies, flying schools etc - many thanks for suggestions.
Ian, any ideas for how to get in touch with RAF Fairford? (still active but no longer the space shuttle emergency runway...)

Hi Russell

Some suggestions:

1) Write to:
Commanding Officer
RAF xxxx airfield

That should work on US bases too because I think they have an RAF liason person

2) Could we put this thread on a BHPC only section
It could be called BM training
Just to not give info to the enemy i.e. property developers

3) I can check out airfields in/near Cambridgeshire
This info can then all be edited into one common thread because it will be useful for future people

Happy for all the latest posts to be sectioned off into another thread if web admin peeps are able to do this?
I’m getting some responses so I’ll keep updating this with info.

For some reason the SCIENCE will not let me edit my previous post, but Professor Duke Marshal of Her Majesty's Time Force Jun Nogami says that the results will be posted to the event home page this year:  http://ihpva.org/whpsc/

I am now in Phoenix.  It is hot.
