And even more finally, the timing data:
www.bhpc.org.uk/Data/Sites/1/media/events/events18/04betteshanger
We only have timing data for the first (15 mins) races. A recent software update caused a problem with data recording in the 90 mins race and the timing system can't be used for straight-line sprints.

Hi Andrew, makes no difference to the results but I wasn’t overtaken by Richard but about half a lap behind :)
In the 90 minute race

Ah the dreaded software update. Best to find out before the Worlds though. The sprints went well. Thanks to all concerned. The weather was kind to us. Brilliant track. Fantastic days racing.

Andrew,
in the 15 mins race I'm sure I did more than 8 laps!? From the software it looks like I did 11 laps.

Is it Windows?  If it is, then this Unit advises going into the Services management console and disabling auto startup for the Windows Update service before Important Events.  I learned this after Microsith woke mine from hibernation to attempt a major update over the world's second slowest hotel internet connection.  And killing it off made it eat three weeks of e-mail.

Bah!

Neil, your Strava summary suggests you averaged just over 30mpoh, which would be 11 laps (or 3-laps of overzealous winding down after the flag...........)

Thanks everyone for a great day's racing at Betteshanger on Saturday (it's always fun to race on a track layout where you rarely need to use your brakes..).

Thanks to Heather, Andrew & Alan for the race organising, Neil for the generator loan and Jonathan for all the "further down the track" work he put into getting the speed traps up and running for the flying sprints.

Also thanks to Stuart for testing out the walking talkies for use at the world champs (and to the gentleman on the hig viz jacket on the bike who kept ferrying messages to and fro when the walkie talkies (and or their operators) weren't functioning properly.

A thoroughly enjoyable day

Wise words, Dave. I always apply Windows updates a few days before then lock it down until just before the next race. The problem here seems to have been an update to the 'interface' program that sits between the tag reader and the race software (designed so that the race software can be used with different models of tag reader).

It hasn't been updated in many years, presumably because it's a pretty simple pipe, so I should have devoted rather more than a quick 'yep, it starts and connects OK' test to it.

The final results for Betteshanger and updated Championship tables are now available on the BHPC website.

Neil F's appeal against losing 3 laps in the 15 min race has been upheld by the commissars; Marc Lohez's Mango has been removed from Part-Faired and Unfaired Multitrack classes following detailed forensic examination of surveillance footage.
