Hi All,

Thanks for entering the BHPC event at Derby Velodrome... We’ll be separating racers into two groups, (nominally faster and slower) before we get there as there will be limited time on site before we get going.

Streamliners, velomobiles and the faster lowracers will go in the fast group – Unfaired trikes, slower recumbent bikes and all upright bikes will go in the slower group.

If you have a preference for which group to go in please let us know and we will try to accommodate you but bear in mind that we have to keep numbers in each group sensible and safety will have to be a consideration….

We’re hoping to give everybody two 20 minute races , but if we struggle for time (because of unforeseen holdups) the second race may be reduced.

Please could those of you that don’t race with BHPC regularly let us know what machine you are planning to ride and which classes your machine qualifies for?

For those that haven’t raced before, please note that you will need numbers visible at the front and sides and you’ll need to cover any sticky-out pointy bits at the front.

http://www.bhpc.org.uk/how-to-race-with-bhpc.aspx

You must wear a helmet of course and elbow guards are advised if you are on an unfaired bike…

In addition, please note you must make sure your tyres are clean and free of debris before going on the track, and to scrub in new tyres as they may slide on the wooden surface otherwise…

PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT NO PART OF YOUR MACHINE APART FROM THE TYRES (FAIRINGS ETC) CONTACT THE TRACK SURFACE.

There will be a track coach present to give advice but we have been asked to pass on the following:

·         Never enter the track in the corners or with too little speed. The track must be entered in the straights having built up speed first.

·         Exit the track with enough speed so if there is need the user can re-join the track and not slide in the banking. It’s better to stay on track at a decent speed until it’s safe to exit.

·         Do not apply brakes at any point, allow the vehicle to exit the track onto the safety and then roll down in speed. This links to the above in that if someone brakes it causes congestion on the safety zone and therefore increases the risks of an accident on track.

·         Ensure that the coaches safety briefing including this info is attended prior to the session

Please note there is camping at Darley Moor on Friday and Saturday nights if required and BHPC will be racing at Darley Moor on the Sunday if you would like to make a weekend of it.

There is no need to pre-book for Darley Moor, just sign on at the venue (cost is £10 for non-members).

You can of course join the club via our online shop, which will give you our quarterly magazine as well as reduced race entry fees.

Any questions, please shout!

See you there!!

All the best

Alan

Hi Jeff,
We have the track from 1pm to 4pm but best to get there a bit earlier so we can get everybody sorted and ready to go.
I'm planning to be there by 12 at the latest.
There will be no signing on as everybody will have pre-entered but there will be a pre-race briefing from the track coach etc.
