This is the place for discussion about the 11th round of the 2017 BHPC races on Quibell Park velodrome in Scunthorpe

First and foremost we need volunteers to help organise, and pick race formats. So if any of you can help, please let me know.

Weather is currently looking promising for Scunthorpe this sunday

15 celcius so no risk of overheating on the track (except for the velomobile/streamliner types)......

And light rainfall not predicted until 4pm

This one is nicely fixed to serve as the "hair of the dog" for those of you suffering from velodrome-hangover after Derby....

Can non bhpc members come to watch?
Also to get a look at the machines. I'm more interested in the mechanical aspect not so much in the racing.
Thanks

Yes,

You're more than welcome to come and watch and get a close up of the machines.

sign-on for races is 10-11 (when folks are unpacking all their clobber and setting up their bikes).
Races start soon after 11am and usually wind up around 3:30-ish.
the races are usually divided into fast and slow/less-fast ones, with breaks in between, so plenty of opportunity to see the machines in action and also have a closer look at them and chat with their riders/designers etc when they are on the sidelines.

Hopefully see you there.....Smile

@KM2

Non-members are always welcome to spectate which is free. If you have never been to one of our races before do make sure to talk to e.g. the race organiser and mention what your interests are and ask them who on the track you should speak to.

It is normally possible in the breaks to test ride some of the bikes - you just need to wear a cycle helmet.

Quibell Park at Scunthorpe is a lovely venue and it has parking.

This weekend is RAF Scampton Airshow and there are long delays on the A15 between Lincoln and The M180. Would recommend avoid this route if possible.

Thanks for the heads up on this John R

Once I've finalised our 2018 race calendar, I maybe send RAF Scampton a copy so they can prevent their aerobatic event clashing with our aerodynamic one next yr...
